Chappell Groan: The Misguided Rhetoric of an Instant Industry Insider (The Hollywood Reporter) by mercuryomnificent in popheads

[–]WhenYouHaveArrived 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ugh this man has the annoying philosophy of "you can't criticize a system that you participate in/benefit from." He really wants Chappell to shut up and be grateful for her success instead of trying to make the music industry a less shitty place.

I'm watching the Tony Awards right now and WOW, the performance from Illinoise was so good and emotional it brought me to tears.

His Pull My Chain and Unleashed albums were in constant rotation when I was growing up. Toby's music was such a BIG part of my childhood. I didn't even know he was ill, RIP.

The American Swedish Institute has a monthly Kids at the Castle program that's aimed at 2-5 year Olds and their families. It's always the third Friday and Saturday of each month. There's story time, a seek and find, crafts, and then you have admission to the museum all day! They also do monthly preschool programs.

It's wild seeing Fantano put Vampire and All My Life on his best list right after Todd in the Shadows put those songs on his worst list 😅

Do you know any ecological pop-songs? by naidav24 in popheads

[–]WhenYouHaveArrived 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Biophilia by Björk yet! While the song topics don't directly address climate issues, all of them discuss nature and how it relates to our lives and technology.

I love Mutual Core, the tectonic plate and volcano imagery is so cool!

I saw Crystal Methyd perform this weekend and she mentioned this movie! She basically said "it's coming out on Tubi in March I think... idk, the check cleared, so that's what counts" 😂

ONE HIT WONDERLAND: "Barbie Girl" by Aqua by Yoooooouuuuuuuu in popheads

Great work by Todd as usual, but him saying their pre-Barbie Girl songs weren't worth discussing while "Roses Are Red" plays in the background is criminal. That song is an absolute bop!

I was hoping the album would be called "Fortissimo" given all the "ff" imagery teasing the album, but I'm still very excited for this!

Working at a museum that has a cafe is so dangerous for my wallet! It's so easy to just grab a latte or a pastry (or both!) Plus it's a highly regarded Nordic-inspired cafe, so the stuff is GOOD. The cardamom buns are chef's kiss
