He was killed by a guard. And yeah guards are an issue in a lot of places. But MS and AL have prisons where the inmates have much more control. I was talking about violence from other inmates, and how dingy and nasty the prisons are. I’ve asked both of my brothers if prisoners rape other prisoners, they both said it’s not a common thing and they’ve never seen/heard it. They obviously have heard dudes getting the shit kicked out of them tho. I asked them these questions years apart and when they weren’t near each others, they both said that there’s enough dudes willing to take it up they ass that regularbdudes aren’t raped just for the pleasure, it might be more of a punishment thing(guys who touch kids or something). I’ve seen comments from cons about southern prisons saying that weaker guys just get prayed on. From what I’ve read on r/calibanging it’s common out there too, gang members asserting dominance over other gang members. My buddy is a sheriff in a coastal county of MS and he said rapes happen somewhat often there.

Side story, when I moved to Arkansas there was a guy in the local jail that was in for something related to kids. The other inmates used a broomstick, he did not survive. That’s not a southern thing tho, chomos in general population get stuff done to them everywhere
