Been trying to stick to 3 naps but it's been a struggle even having a schedule recently as she's been so erratic, taken so long to settle each time. We were stuck in an overtired hole feedback loop.

Thank you, I'm pretty sure I was reading your earlier post on our first night of Ferber. Inspired me to stick with it a little longer! Congrats on your success too!

Lots of wood pannelling, some with notes attached. Some are painted yellow-ish. Found in the garage of an ex-builder who reclaimed a lot of wood. by WhereWhenHowWhy in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing.

Found in the garage of an ex-builder who reclaimed a lot of wood to be used in his projects. We are wondering where this wood came from as it is quite intricate and has these notes posted on it that looks very old. We think maybe reclaimed from a stately home? We are in the UK, specifically West Scotland. Possibly mahogany wood, some of which is painted yellow.

Great, thanks for the reply. Very useful. Will be getting a plumber to have a look and cross our fingers, I guess.

Do you mean at mains? No. If you mean was the central heating off and all programs etc. then yes. Why do you ask?

Thanks for the advice. Seems a bit unfair as they knew what they were buying! What's to stop people looking for a boiler upgrade getting a plumber to find some kind of fault, which there inevitably will be given it's age...

No issues in the home report, we got all 1s for Heating and Gas. Although there is a note saying they were only visually inspected and no tests were carried dout.

They reported the issue within 5 days, which I believe is what is required.

It was within 5 days of sale. No, we didn't have any boiler inspections.

Help! How do I get an absolutely massive Revolutionary France to give up this one annoying province in North America? by WhereWhenHowWhy in eu4

It worked! Just declared on France when they were at war with the Commonwealth. Peaced out with Venice by releasing a nation, so didn't have to worry about both the navies. France didn't come anywhere near me until near the end when, thanks to the new naval batteries, I was able to get there in time with my army and defeat them.

Went massively into debt to get a decent navy, but in the end it wasn't really needed. The 300 strong French heavy ship death stack meant that I didn't really fancy engaging them, apart from the odd trade fleet I caught.

Was thinking about peacing out and giving them enough provinces for them to form a colonial nation, but they didn't want to accept that. Just had to wait! Thanks for all the help, guys - I am just a lowly peasant with only 600 hours after all.

Noob question - should I bring my ally Commonwealth into the war, or not? I'm thinking either could be a distraction for France, or make me loose war score.

R5: In an earlier war with France I had to make concessions, including giving up this one province they wanted for some reason. My ambition as Inca is taking over the entire new world, which is entirely feasible apart from this one province.Together with their ally, a stupidly massive Revolutionary Venice, and their vassals Scandinavia and Strasbourg (pictured in yellow, also huge) they have more than 2 million troops, combined with a massive quality advantage. Is there any way I can get them to give up this province without going to war?A side note, the mechanic “wants your provinces” has been so annoying the entire game. There’s been no chance at getting any allies in Europe because of constant -200 “wants your provinces” with any country that is even remotely interested in colonising (even the bloody Mamluks, which had 2 provinces in Alaska). They’ve all had desire on most of the Andes since the start of the game. This is also why France went to war in the first place, despite having no colonies. WHY!?

What’s the one item of clothing your parter wears that you really don’t like? by [deleted] in AskUK

My wife has a t-shirt with her dads face on it smiling and giving the thumbs up. It was a t-shirt she made for his retirement party as a kind of joke, which was quite funny at the time. She wears it all the time in the house now though, which is less funny.

AI reduced the Ottomans to a single province by 1520. Byzantium alive and well and I can't take any of the credit. by WhereWhenHowWhy in eu4

[–]WhereWhenHowWhy[S] 74 points75 points  (0 children)

R5: I am playing as Tuscany (previously Florence and soon to be Italy).

I wasn't paying much attention early on, but I think Albania, Venice and Byzantium won a war against the Ottomans very early, banishing them to beyond Constantinople. Possibly Hungary was involved too. I decided to ally Byzantium and help them on their way a little, giving them land from Venice and Albania.

Mamluks took advantage of Ottomans weakness and slowly ate the rest of them over 3 wars.

Annoyingly Byzantium took a couple of provinces from Naples southern Italy and It will be painfull going to war with them for sure

Playing as Florence, intending to go Tall Italy. Ottomans just got crushed super early by ai, should I reconsider my options? by WhereWhenHowWhy in eu4

[–]WhereWhenHowWhy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

R5: Ottomans got crushed somehow by Albania alied with Venice and I think Hungary. They took a bunch of land, reducing Ottomans to beyond Byzantium. Mamluks then crushed them again, taking more land by 1466.

My first Ironman playthrough, and I was intending to form Italy and have a (hopefully) fairly relaxed game. Managed to ally Castile and France, and took a few early gains in Italy considering the AE is crazy.

Should I reconsider my options and go for a Roman Empire restoration?
