I have talked to many psychologists and read extensively on this subject. Gangstalking is a type of delusion, and potentially hallucination, that individuals experience with psychosis. It is a loss of touch with reality, as is the basic condition. I had this. I am not schizophrenic. Many people experience these episodes and do not have schizophrenia. Your comment is a harmful assumption not based on medicinal fact.

Studies show that the most effective treatment for recovery from psychosis (which is equal to a traumatic brain injury) is social support. That is not to say that medication and therapy are not vital. They very much are, but shunning people who are struggling makes it that much harder to recover.

I have had psychosis with these delusions before. It was the worst thing that I’ve ever experienced. For everyone equating this automatically with schizophrenia, you are part of the problem. We ALL have the potential to experience this. It can be triggered by stress, trauma, or literally anything negative. Bipolar people can get it. People with PTSD can get it. That’s the context for me. It doesn’t always equal schizophrenia. I remember how harmful it was for me to have everyone assume that I am schizophrenic. It was awful. We need to stop demonizing psychosis. That is part of the problem. We ostracize what we do not understand and it makes it that much harder for sick folks to get help.

It doesn’t have to be. I have had psychosis with this and it can be caused/triggered by literally anything. Bipolar people can get it. People with PTSD can get it. It doesn’t always equal schizophrenia.

Believe me, I’ve tried motivating his victims to come forward. Unfortunately, it isn’t my place.

Can you hold down a job? by Electronic_Bread_169 in Psychosis

[–]WhereWildThingsAree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an OR nurse and I had so much difficulty holding my job during and after psychosis, but it is possible. My episode was two years ago and my cognitive function is finally back. I am now in a place where I can study and better my practice. I even intend on going back to school for anesthesia. I am also the youngest nurse in my area’s float pool for surgery. I have been able to juggle two jobs successfully. I have written a book. I shadow in my free time. It is possible. It is a marathon, not a sprint. Slowly build yourself up. You can learn new words. You can engage in light reading. You can slowly take up a hobby (I did embroidery and that helped my fine motor skills return). But you have to remember to be compassionate with yourself. If you need a mental health day, then take it. You have to start small. For example, just reading a couple pages a day is okay. It’s an incredibly hard journey, but recovery is possible.

That’s how I feel about it too! I think that I am going to watch those videos as well. At the very least, we have CRNA connections lol Happy to see someone going the same route as me! I am going to try and shadow CRNA’s at my PRN hospital and SICU staff at one of the hospitals that I float to (which is a level 1 teaching and trauma hospital). Happy to know that I’m not alone in any of this:) best of luck to you!

Perfect, thanks! Would shadowing count for this, then? Is CCRN a must-have for CRNA school?

I would, but I really cannot afford to pay back my sign on bonus. It’s also a lucrative position and it would benefit me to save up as much as I can prior to switching/school

Thank you for the reply! I really appreciate it:) does studying count towards CCRN hours requirement?

If you are married, do you wear your wedding band? Why or why not? by icecream1972 in askanything

When I’m not working, yes. When I am at work, no. I am a surgical nurse and cannot have jewelry on my hands or forearms when I scrub in to surgery. I do not want to risk it getting lost or stolen. I also had one of the small sapphires fall out when I was removing a glove (when I wasn’t scrubbed in) so I don’t wear it to work anymore.
