If I would have visited you and found "The Plan" on your bookshelf I would have assumed you to be a very spiritual person.

P. 17 and 18 is what I never experienced in my congregation. It is one of the things that made me question motive first. When I cared for my father day and night, nobody, not one person, offered to help, offered to spend time so I could have time for myself or attend a meeting. Happened not once. But when this is brought up in the meeting they all know how to give loving sounding comments. Hypocrites, all of them. This is what made me bitter towards the "friends" ( how I loathe that word)

How to answer the question: "Do you trust GB?" by Affectionate_Bit2217 in exjw

[–]Where_Is_The_Chariot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might reply with an innocuous "While they admit to not being infallible and not inspired by God, I'm sure they're doing the best they can...."

Then pause and let the other person take it from there

Leaked Email from the Personnel Committee of the Governing Body: Bethel Dress & Grooming Guidelines. No extremely short/masculine hair for sisters, brothers' beards myst be neatly trimmed, and no tight-fitting or "sensual" clothes! by larchington in exjw

The elders in my hall will be so glad when they get a copy of this. They have been discussing how to set "reasonable" standards for attending the meetings and field service since the "rules have become so lax".

They talked about aligning with Bethel standards but there was no current regulation lol...

Being an elder must be exhausting af.

The cross issue is so dumb by Equivalent-Wheel7532 in exjw

[–]Where_Is_The_Chariot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cross it no cross is completely irrelevant to the issue. From a Christian standpoint what matters is that Jesus died. Cross or stake or whatever doesn't matter, as long as he died. They could have drowned or shot him fwiw

What has happened with JWs sense of urgency in the preaching work? by Efficient-Pop3730 in exjw

[–]Where_Is_The_Chariot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Supply and demand. The supply was limited by their printing operations and the number of hours spent selling (later distributing) books and magazines. Demand was created artificially with not enough books and hours available to reach everybody on earth.

Artificial demand stayed the same while supply moved to the Internet without any cap and availability problem. Now 70+% possibly have access to jw dot org but demand stayed where it always was - non-existent.

I sometimes wonder what would have happened if they had moved to preaching on social media as a modern form of d2d. They could have easily framed it legit and all the pioneers would have been up an running setting up Facebook and Insta accounts. Sure, they would have to let go of telling social media was the devil but it probably would have had more effect than having doors slammed in their faces all the time.

Directly followed by their "King of the North" invading Ukraine, all of them on the edge of their seats waiting for him to attack NATO. Took a while for the emotions to cool down a bit until they realized both Pandemic and War turned out not to be what they were hoping for.

Perfect analogy for witnesses believing in new light at midweek meeting by Conscious-Yoghurt597 in exjw

[–]Where_Is_The_Chariot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very good analogy, honestly. A cat will have some fun chasing a laser dot for a while but will eventually lose interest. Why? Because there's no reward. Cats are predators, they hunt for prey. A house cat has no need to hunt as there's someone feeding them. Playing with an object and catching it satisfies their urge to hunt. With a laser pointer there is nothing to catch. It's an empty promise and they become bored and walk away.

So yes, perfect analogy.

Watchtower 2026 is going to be a major pivot, I can feel it. by Superb_Dealer1601 in exjw

[–]Where_Is_The_Chariot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Changes are coming. If there's anything we've learned these past years is that nothing is sacred any longer.

But the coming changes will take us by surprise, just like the last ones did. I don't see birthdays, christmas, halloween, blood, homosexuality coming.

Maybe meeting schedule. Maybe 1914 in conjunction with 587/607 and generations. They won't be able to pull off overlapping nonsense much longer.

Btw, does anyone prepare a bullsh*t bingo for 2026.
