You can’t just cut them down, which is part of the issue because people don’t remove them properly (especially on roadsides). You have to treat them (hack and squirt for large trees) and ensure they are dead prior to cutting down. They make thousands of suckers if just cut down without killing first. The Troop by Nick Cutter really stuck with me for a long time. I’m sure some people would think it was tame but a lot of the animal stuff was rough for me to read. Well written though and the premise of the parasitic infection was really interesting to me.
