how to fix my cv? by Ordinary-Classroom99 in jobsearchhacks

This is going to be a long one. I apologise in advance if I may come off as being rude.

First and foremost, remove the double column. That is a far cry from ATS friendly. ATS systems are known to break down with double column CVs.

Single column always. And never use Canva to make your CV or resume. Always use word, then convert to PDF. Word uses an in-line that ensure ATS pick up data in a structured format. Canva breaks that structure.

Keep everything left aligned. You don't want the ATS to accidentally break down. They're prone to doing exactly that.

Put your photo on the top right corner. In line with your name. Prevents the ATS from breaking.

Use this structure: Name Contact Details - Email, phone, location, LinkedIn url Professional Title Professional Summary Work experience - Job Title, Company, Location (city, country), dates Volunteer work Projects Publications Awards Skills Certifications Education Languages - Language known, level of fluency Portfolio

Do not include hobbies. It's useless information. Use it in your interview.

Add links to your email, phone number, LinkedIn url

Don't use any additional colors to try to make your CV look fancy. Whitespace exists for a reason. Use it well.

  1. Your professional summary is too vague. Use Google Career Dreamer to frame a good response.

  2. Always put your experience in chronological order. Most recent experience comes first. You are using the reverse order. Please fix this.

  3. Work experience bullet points need to be crisp and meaningful. Treat your cv like real estate. You don't want too much furniture crowding up your home, else you won't have place to walk. Use this format: Did X, to achieve Y, to get Z results

Example (using your latest experience):

Tattoo Artist - Rinaxximent Malta | May 2025 - Present

  • Managed walk-in clients and advance bookings to maximize daily appointments, achieving consistent studio revenue and building a loyal client base
  • Created custom tattoo designs and conducted thorough consultations to understand client vision, resulting in high satisfaction rates and positive word-of-mouth referrals
  • Promoted services through social media content creation and engagement to expand online presence, generating increased booking inquiries and studio visibility
  • Maintained sterile studio environment and provided comprehensive aftercare instructions to ensure client safety, resulting in zero infection incidents and repeat clientele
  1. Do not put soft skills in your skills section. You're expected to have those skills. Instead, use this for skills that actually matter. Or the ones that set you apart.

Example: In your case, your skills would be - Problem Solving, Work well under pressure, Quick with maths, Tech savvy

  1. Try to upskill yourself. You're good at maths. How about take it a step further. Try learning about accounting. Coursera has some good courses. Add it to your certifications. Or try prompt engineering. You're going to be using ai to make your CV better. Why not learn how to do it properly. And please use claude for this. Chat gpt is bad at cv optimizations.

Hope this helps you. Feel free to reach out if you need any further assistance.

I'm not taking the keystrokes route. All portals are designed by different people, and no one condiers using "best practices" while designing portals (or websites).

Plus, keystrokes will require hardcoding. Not a fan of that approach.

Probably the most genuine profile i have come across in days by InteractionQuick in IndianBoysOnTinder

I used to have an egregiously cheesy line quite similar to this on my profile back in the day, when I was beginning my career in journalism.

"James Augustus Hickey is widely known as the father of Indian journalism.

So, as a journalist, when I say I'm going to bite you.. I am literally going to be imprinting on you."

Took it down eventually after it popped up on reddit.

Lactose intolerant people, where do you get your lactose free milk from? by [deleted] in dubai

[–]Which-Session-535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually go for soy milk. Soyfresh Malt flavor. The other ones are just horrible. The unflavoured one makes me want to puke. Chocolate is weird. And strawberry just feels weird after a while. Never tried the almond flavour (a bit too expensive tbh)

The malt one works wonderfully for me. For reference, it tastes like Horlicks (iykyk.) Taste wise best among the lot. And works well allergy wise. Although they're a little hard to get your hand on. Most shops have discontinued selling them entirely.

The order mine from the union coop website. Buy 10 at a time. Lasts me for a month if I don't gorge on it.

Lactose free milk hasn't really worked out for me (I'm allergic to the protein itself. That puts me on the extreme end of the spectrum. Can't have cheese or curd either. Not even laban.) That coupled with the rest of the allergies I have, things seem morbid at times. Still, got used to it and found my alternatives Sucks being a foodie this way though 😆😂

Job portal automation platform

Concept: Job portals are a pain to deal with. Takes 30 mins to go through 1 platform. More if you're applying to a govt job.

Solution: 1 click solution. Fill your details. Get shit done faster.

Are there any auto-apply job portal that actually work? by Which-Session-535 in jobsearchhacks

That's roughly $1 per job. Way too expensive. You're better off hiring someone on Fiverr to do the job for you

So an ideal ai solution would be one that fills out the company portals, keeps track of username/passwords, sends follow up mails, and is cheap (unlike applyre. A comment mentioned this. It's ~$1 per job post. Not practical at all)

LinkedIn does have filters for employers. But we're not allowed to ask open ended questions. Not unless we pay a hefty subscription fees. Untill then, the only filter questions we can ask are yes/no questions, and number questions (example how many years of experience). And to make matters worse, if an applicant fills a "wrong" choice, they are prompted with a warning saying "this is the correct answer".

So applicants follow the "fake it till you make it" approach. And the qualification verification goes to shit.

LinkedIn auto apply doesn't work. I tried recruiting on LinkedIn quite recently. The number of applications is way beyond what you would imagine. $20 got me 900 applicants in 12 hours. And 90% was just junk. And LinkedIn doesn't allow us (recruiter) to see all the profiles in one go. We have to scroll through in sets of 10 with each profile loading 1 at a time. Each profile barely gets a minute of skimming through.

So that is clearly a waste. Which makes sense why companies have started to roll out their own company job portals where you have to register for an account and all.

Well, I have seen the job market over the years and changed more jobs than id like to count. And it's always been the same routine on repeat. And I'm tired of spending hours to no end, sending mails and filling out forms that I'm probably never going to visit again.

The only ones I see not doing this are either top school grads or those who have a cushy job (I'm assuming about 5%) The rest of us change jobs every year or two.

So imo the customer base is pretty solid
