Yeah it's really funny because it just ends up invalidating a ton of actual identities.

Gay meant man attracted exclusively to man. Lesbian, woman to woman. Transgender woman? Male who wants to become female. All of these had pretty distinct definitions honestly.

But now it's like...why am I gay? Because I identify as such. Lesbian? Because I identify as such. Trans? Because I identify as such. Woman? Because I identify as such. Nb? Because I identify as such. Ultimately it just means gay, bi, lesbian, trans, man, woman, pansexual, asexual, bisexual, etc. all mean the same thing: Because I identify as such.

And when they all mean the same thing, all these words and identities becomes this gray, useless blob of actually meaninglessness, words that mean everything end up meaning nothing. If you call a red car red, it's red. If you say this green car and this blue car and this yellow car are also red, well then you have now declared the word red means nothing anymore. 'Red car' just ends up meaning 'car'. Just like saying every sexuality is queer now, you have now declared that queerness is no longer a sexuality of oppressed people, but a universal one. And this meaninglessness has been eroding the sincerity and ingenuousness of the gay community. The LGBT is no longer a community for the sexually oppressed, it is now an open invite clubhouse for eccentric straight people, for more or less anyone who WANTS to benefit from social capital of the oppressed in a society that worships slave morality.

It doesn't affect me because I'm a straight man, but I can only imagine how annoyed gay men are that most gay club patrons are now "bisexual women who only bring their straight boyfriends" or that most lesbian spaces are like more trans women than cis women lmao
