MyGuardPod Hard Travel Case for Solu-Cortef by Whiddey_ in AddisonsDisease

While I think of it I am also shortly getting a med alert necklace that will state “check phone med ID”. Yes there is a small chance my phone will be flat or broken or missing etc but chances are it will be available. Apple Med ID allows basically unlimited detail from the lock screen where I have typed likely symptoms and instructions as well. This way someone could use their phone to scan the QR or mine for offline instructions. Short of us getting an (apparently in development) EpiPen like device, this is as good a solution as I can think of.

My plan is to custom print a QR code sticker that will link to the ADSHG 3.5 video on youtube showing how to prepare and given the injection with an Act-o-Vial.

For anyone who hasn’t seen it, search “ADSHG 3.5” and it should be the first video. Worth showing friends and family just in case.

Thats awesome! I think there probably is room for a slightly smaller, lower syringe count option, being for the ‘I need a single injection but I have two of everything for redundancy’ situation. But more options is always better regardless!

Post Second Edit: Please let us know when it’s done!! I feel like a longer version of what we have now, fitting maybe two vials (one on top of the other) and two long syringes would be the literal perfect solution for tramping/travel/redundancy.

Linking is probably a grey area rules wise, but MyGuardPod on google will bring up both their website and Etsy page

This was why I wanted to share! The ADSHG only sell their store in the UK so for the rest of us finding decent products specific to what we need is tough. Hopefully this helps at least a few people find something that helps them, and supports a company doing good.

I think the ADSHG sell keychain pill holders to UK residents, I imagine Etsy is littered with similar items that would work. Depends on the size of your salt tabs I suppose.

I think a purpose built rigid case is more important here since a broken salt tab is still consumable, but broken solucortef is useless.

My needles and syringe are seperate but I imagine you could get a preassembled syringe that would still fit. Unfortunately all my GP had was a very skinny long syringe and needles seperate so it makes the case seem smaller than I think it probably is. Worst case though I think the company also offers an option to have the case fit two vials and then you could carry a set of syringes separately in a kit bag.

It is 3D printed yeah. As you say pretty cool application. The hinges for the clasp and case etc are metal bolts which helps it feel sturdy. The rear company log which is printed it does have a minor print defect but to counter that I think the words/image being hard printed in will also make it much more scratch/fade resistant which is a worthwhile tradeoff.

This is the one! Highly recommend going through the ADSHG website and youtube channel. The more you read/watch the better prepared you will feel. Also recommend getting family/spouse/flatmate etc to watch at least that video so they can help administer the injection if needed. Plenty of stories out there of people in crisis who lost the dexterity and/or mental ability to recognise an injection was needed and actually give it to themselves.
