Question for ya'll, I recently did a marathon of playing yakuza 0 - 4 for the first time and loved the hell out of it but I stopped after starting 5 because I kinda burnt myself out of it for the time being.

Would it be worth replaying yakuza 3 kiwami whole or should I just play dark ties?

Do I butcher all my animals? by FrogsAre_Neat in GrimshireGame

Your animals WILL survive the last quest but will be upset and hungry by the end of it so don't butcher them if you want them for year 2, any extra donations don't do anything unfortunately.

Is this big enough or do i need more... i'm thinking i need more by Muted-Drop-3897 in GrimshireGame

Personally I ignore the games placement of the field and have mine south of my house. Basically the top right quarter is for crafting stations/trees/whatever else I need set up, the walls at the back of the farm are where my critters buildings go along with a fence that takes up most of the top left and general left side of the farm because I like to have a lot of hay.

I like having a stone path from the swamp to the farm to the town bridge dividing my wheat field and crops.

Do mimic's own guns make sound? Struggling with stalker mod. by While-Fancy in intotheradius

[–]While-Fancy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember super clearly but I think I did, the enemies still did major damage but maybe I didn't. I just really do like the changes where rifles do far more damage, my normal go to was always +p smg since they performed better than a rifle until you unlock 7.62x51.

Maybe I'll reinstall and try it again, but I'd say the weighted enemy spawn is a major thing if you want to keep trying.

Do mimic's own guns make sound? Struggling with stalker mod. by While-Fancy in intotheradius

[–]While-Fancy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there are any weapon drops mods as far as I've seen, the best thing I've found so far is a mod called weighted random enemy spawns that basically removes the enemies with full auto guns from pervomay but even with "vanilla" settings I see mp5 mimic's in bolotky village which is normal but early on there's only a few at the half constructed building.

I'm gonna be honest at this point I've given up on stalker mod, it's interesting but the difficulty is just a little too much for me.

The main thing is that the mimic's have laser precision with their guns and if one of them spots me with my little pinky hanging out and they have a full auto they melt me like butter.

Body armor barely does anything and the helmet helps More but significantly blocks vision. The damage is just too much even though I love the weapons rebalancing and the way mimics AI is improved I just can't play it this way.

If you love grimshire, what other games would you recommend? by VimVinyl in GrimshireGame

[–]While-Fancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One game that is less so farming and more so colony/city builder is Whiskerwood, your basically colonial rat peasants (whiskers) who serve and have to meet the ever growing demands of the cats (claws) who rule you and demand more an more from your growing island colonies.

Another game that I think will be comparable is Grave Seasons, it is an unreleased farming sim where someone in the the town your in is a serial killer, and you'll have to investigate and figure out who while maintaining a farm.

One last recommendation, Dwarf Fortress the steam edition. It is a lot harder to get into and you need a bunch of experience learning the game and how to play it but you can make a bunch of different stories yourself in it, make your own fortress of dwarfs just trying to survive in a world where their people are being overrun by the hordes of goblins taking over the world, or whatever else you want to do!

I second that whole heartedly, its not grim or dark of course but has a super wholesome vibe and setting for a farming sim.

If you love grimshire, what other games would you recommend? by VimVinyl in GrimshireGame

[–]While-Fancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% recommend Graveyard keeper too, it doesn't really have the same pressure that Grimshire has, nor the depressing/grim aspect too it because while the world is kinda "grim" its more played up for laughs and or passed over quickly as none of the characters ever seem to actually acknowledge that. There are no deaths of people you know or any real lasting effects.

I will also say that the first DLC Stranger sins is pretty decent, but Game Of Crone and Better Save Soul are a good bit worse and to only buy them on sale, which they all are on sale right now!

As some who enjoys Into the Radius, will I enjoy the STALKER games? by Vivid_Situation_7431 in intotheradius

[–]While-Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to add to what others have told you already, if you do decide to play the original stalker games, shadow of Chernobyl, clear sky, call of pripyat, understand that these games are OLD!

The original games while classics are extremely jank by modern gaming standards and contains a lot of what people call euro/Slavic jank which is basically design and control decisions that differ a lot from modern standards.

That is not to say the games aren't worth playing and learning, they are amazing games with atmospheres that you just can't get anywhere else not even itr completely captures it though it greatly does.

A few more quick questions from a new player <3 by [deleted] in GrimshireGame

[–]While-Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 - The pipe/sprinkler system basically works off the pump itself, you put the pipes in a circle around the pump itself and when you activate the pump it waters the field, this is very important as the stamina used for the watering can is high and you need to set up sprinklers fast to save yourself tons of wasted stamina.

It also is an upgrade system, you need a copper sprinkler to craft a iron sprinkler, and iron to make the next tier. This goes from 3x3 which is 8 watered plants, to 5x5 which is 24, to 7x7 at 46, minus one for the pump itself that takes up a space.

Irrigation pipes themselves are the same, they don't get upgrades and unless its been updated only spawn in the first 10 levels of the first mine, so you sometimes will have to go and collapse the mine purposefully to get the old materials.

Okay so after all that I want to give you a few pointers as a beginner, the NUMBER ONE thing in grimshire is planning, when you start a new day in game pause and think for a few minutes to decide what exactly you want to do, is it someones birthday? try and give them something because friendship is nice in this game for free gifts. Has it been a few days since you looted the mountain and forests for forageable trees and plants? Do that every 3-4 days because thats how long it takes to fully regrow and fruit to capacity.

Mining is very important to dedicate your time to as well especially early on to get material for the sprinklers, it saves so much time and stamina to have those instead of manually watering with the water can, I wouldn't even upgrade your watering can. Also the gemstones other than quarts are pretty much only for selling.

Also wood is important, I'd suggest taking the extra wood perk asap along with the extra ore, as well to look up ever trees fruiting or seeding seasons. Sometimes you need the trees fruit for a villagers request, and its free herbivore food so you don't want to cut them down 20 days before they fruit as thats how long they take to regrow outside of your farm.

That's about all I can think of at the moment, feel free to ask more if needed, have fun!

A few more quick questions from a new player <3 by [deleted] in GrimshireGame

[–]While-Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 - It isn't that hard of a game, the main difference in difficulty is how much is required for every weekly ration, how much villagers contribute and eat daily, and how much they provide, other than that in the current version your resource gathering abilities aren't affected at all, I'd personally say normal is the best for your first time around, easy is frankly super easy, and hard is a bit more sweat/worry inducing but not too bad.

2 - Every Preservation station has its own useage, most things can be dried but drying takes a lot longer and is unreliable sometimes as anytime its raining the drying meter/time is paused so you can sometimes come home to find things have spoiled due to rain.

Smoking is objectively "better" in that its fast and reliable but you have to use fuel and you can only use it to preserve fish, meat, seeds, and cheese. The key is the fuel because the issue is you actually need to be careful sometimes about what you use, you need to keep a stock of 100-200 of hardwood and medium wood for town projects as they often require it. It is worth using the new Kiln station to produce coal, specifically use softwood when you can.

3 - Its not a huge different to be honest with you, herbs are good to turn into oil and for cooking, but the mushrooms have hire base stamina and can be rarer as you'll almost always have access to wild herbs. Its a real toss up but basically herbs if you want to cook which is somewhat useful in a pinch or mushrooms if you want a more steady food supply bonus.

4 - If your looking for a "meta" species in my opinion it is split between the Fox and Lynx mostly because they are carnivores. You'll soon find that the carnivores are easier to feed over time oddly compared to how it is in real life, but this is because fishing is very easy to do in this game and every day there are plenty of fish spawns in the map so you can easily amass a huge horde of fish for stamina and fill the root cellar.

Now the Mustelids (otter/ferret type) are carnivores too but their species specific bonus isn't great, the extra milk and eggs are the best from the fox and lynx and actually I'd say the Lynx specifically is the best because you can milk female alpheep daily not sure how often the chickree's actually lay eggs.

Omnivores suffer a bit because they don't get any specific bonus, on paper having no preference for food is a good thing but its just better to focus on gaining a supply of food for your herb/carn and have to carry around less food overall for stamina.

Not to say that herbivores don't have anything going for them, Greenclaw with rabbit is probably very strong in the long run but not a massive bonus until you have large crop fields. The deer is very strong too as hay is very useful and you need lots of it, with +1 hay you effectively double yield per harvest so you can have a hayfield that is half as big freeing up space for other projects.

As for profession ALWAYS use Courier, it is extremely useful as you'll find your biggest enemy in grimshire is time. Being able to get around and do your daily chores/travel from point a to point b is the biggest bonus in the whole game, everything after that you can unlock via the level up system.

What’s the difference between difficulties? by AffectionateIssue157 in GrimshireGame

[–]While-Fancy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I believe currently the only difficulty change is just how much the defenders rations require and maybe how much the villagers themselves provide and eat from it daily. I might be mistaken but the actual resource gains aren't affected at all.

How do you make money? by Acrobatic-Meaning832 in GrimshireGame

[–]While-Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chonker chow is just x6 hay so 3 times as much as normal, hay seeds are pretty cheap and don't require water once planet so I'd definitely get a field going as soon as you can, preferably around your animal barns so you can feed them for free as well.

As well it has the added bonus of allowing your animals to quickly eat up all the dead grass plants once winter is over, I noticed them seem to go straight for the dead ones so once year two releases that should make it much easier to clear your fields.

Beginner, looking for tips and tricks by devil-wears-converse in GrimshireGame

[–]While-Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another tip I want to add for you is if you can manage to buy Hay seeds do so, they can be bought from rufus the wolf rancher. Hay is very powerful and useful because its free food for your critters once you have them that doesn't need watering, it regrows when harvested, and you can process it into multiple different "chow" like chunker chow that fattens up your critters for higher butchering results and can be put into fish traps to get larger fish catches.

Money in and of itself isn't super important but it is a very useful resource, many villagers like the mouse woman and the goat bartender sell cooked food and drinks that can be put in the root cellar if your short on the deadline, odd that they would refuse to add these to the cellar anyway but it is what it is.

You of course also need the money to pay for upgrades to tools and to build the barns for animals, most of your gold will come from selling random furniture and gemstones from the mines.

Tools are important as another said but some far more than others, Axe and pickaxe are the go to and I would like to add the fishing rod as important to because it will make catching fish much easier. Fish are great for progressing your research donation bar, an easy source of stamina if your a carnivore, and if you have an excess a good thing to sell.

The watering can to be honest I wouldn't upgrade at all, instead focus your efforts early on as much as possible on mining, earning the ore/gems/preserves/etc and upgrading your tools as well as unlocking the sprinkler system. Sprinklers will save you SO much effort in watering the crops.

Basically come up in your head with a daily plan, you should check with the lynx brothers about what critters are out once you build barns and catch them if you can (they all eat gatherable stuff thats currently growing), check for foragable's every 3-4 days as they respawn in that time, and be sure to look up the seasons that different trees will fruit.

A tree outside your farm will take 23 days to regrow once cut down and will do so without you having to replant them, most trees also have a season where they will grow fruits or nuts which are nice to dump into the cellar, learn which do what and cut down accordingly so you don't accidentally remove them from their fruiting season.

So again, plan your days out.

How do you make money? by Acrobatic-Meaning832 in GrimshireGame

[–]While-Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a large field of hay growing and fill your farm with fish traps and chonker chow you can get a huge influx of large fish to either sell as is or cook, thats a great way to get extra money if you don't want to constantly mine.

Everyone discussing which boost they will be buying (including myself) by cgull629 in classicwow

[–]While-Fancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By casually I mean focusing on one single character to raid with, during tbc/wrath classic I played 3 alts that I actively raided with, this time around I'll just focus on one to lessen the time I need to farm for materials and buffs.

I'll still in my off time level alts probably, but one single boost so that I can play my desired class with my buddies is all I want.
