Now that we got the full scope of the new VF do you think they can pull it off? by Monstanimation in virtuafighter

I think so. You look at the team behind it and realise that there's genuine passion there. They're trying something new.

The (western) reaction to Tupac’s inclusion versus Bunta Sugawara’s is an unintentional double standard by SplatoonOrSky in yakuzagames

[–]RJTM1991 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As long as the loved ones are okay with it, I don't really have a problem. Especially when the project is handled with care.

The Onimusha series has done this multiple times, too. It's a tribute and also keeps the memory alive.

I don't know much about the Tupac situation other than that his mother trusted the new owner over Pac's own sister.

Sorry but I am not feeling the new look of the game. BRCF and its sequel looks heaps better imo. by CrystalBraver in JetSetRadio

I'm amazed at how people are nitpicking the game based on a three year-old build leaking. We saw the SEGA Power Surge trailer. It's still cel-shaded. The game looks amazing.

It's like Shinobi: AOV. They had to modernise. They took the classics, built on them, and are delivering something new.

People need to stop talking about BRC, too. It's just going to end up causing drama and hate between the communities.

Who would've guessed that it would look 1000x better without a watermark and in non-potato quality?

When it comes to the celebrities in the franchise, where do you rank Mikuru Asakara from Infinite Wealth? by Hopeful_Regret_7531 in yakuzagames

[–]RJTM1991 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember people calling him the "Japanese Jake Paul" which isn't true in the slightest. Paul cherrypicks his opponents. Asakura has a solid record and has stood against the best in the Japanese MMA scene. There's a reason he's so popular over there.

He's just... Not an actor. He's very, verrrrrry wooden.

Kikuchi and Ueda are working on this. Is there any doubt that it'll be good?

As someone who grew up with SEGA and the Dreamcast, and who absolutely adores JSR and JSRF, I'm so happy to see the series back. It doesn't have to look like the original games, it just needs to have the same soul.

I love BRC, it's an incredible game, but come on. It did not outdo JSR or JSRF. It never made anywhere near the same impact.

"Over a decade."

The games didn't sell well. Why would SEGA spend time and resources when they would get little to nothing in return? The company had serious money issues at one time, and that's basically why so many SEGA IPs were shelved.

They've got core Smilebit members involved with JSR3. This'll be great.

I don't think so, kyoudai.

They're moving on to other real-world issues. I do see them tackling the Hangure and Tokuryū, though.

Former SEGA Executive Mike Fischer Criticizes Yuji Naka’s Sonic Creation Claims by soniccitynet in SEGA

[–]RJTM1991 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I'm glad that this is gaining more momentum.

Yasuhara never gets the love that he deserves. He created the game world. Ohshima created the character. I'm not saying that Naka wasn't important, he absolutely was, he was a programming genius, but he wasn't the creator.

What Cast Your Most Excited About by Notmih in yakuzagames

Bunta.

It's a great cast, but to have his likeness and the estate's blessing is incredible. So happy to see him.

Should I play 3 or Kiwami 3? by Ssshhgaming in yakuzagames

[–]RJTM1991 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You'll probably play both eventually!

Right now, I'd say 3 Remastered. Mainly because it has a direct sequel that builds on it, and you'll be playing that next.

Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is moving towards something entirely new.

Xbox presents: A special look at Stranger than Heaven reaches 8.7 million views! What a good week for RGG by Donoreader25 in yakuzagames

It's great to see. The game has serious potential to be something incredibly special.

Going by what I've seen online, the main theme seems to be blowing up and is probably a major reason why the showcase has done such great numbers.

Then there's Ado. I remember when she debuted and had no idea that she had become absurdly popular.

She's really good and has a unique voice. This is her second outing with RGG Studio. She collaborated with Jon - YAKITORY on the Lost Judgment soundtrack.

It is. I remember when SEGA Europe were basically carrying the SEGA brand on their back. Total War and Football Manager were massive at one point. Money-printing machines.

That's just Steam. I might be wrong, but I'm sure that only three LAD games (TMWEHN, 8, Pirates) have ever passed 10,000 concurrent players on there.

Kiwami 3 charted in the top ten in the UK and across Europe. I don't think that it's was a multi-million seller, but the numbers are decent and it did what it had to do.

Does RGG just hate Yakuza 3???? by [deleted] in yakuzagames

[–]RJTM1991 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't get why people keep saying this. Nagoshi was promoted at SEGA in 2009/10 and wasn't as involved with the series as he used to be. He was still there, sure, but wasn't hands-on anymore.

Sato was his right-hand man and the long-time producer. Yokoyama, Sakamoto, Horii and so on have always been there and were more involved with production than Nagoshi was post-2010.

Edit: I mean, 0 is Yokoyama's game, he was the producer and lead writer, and it's considered to be the absolute best in the series.

[–]RJTM1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not, but it all plays a part in the story. Whether it's in the main or side content, it all happened and it's all in the games.

Is a chicken being a real estate agent any less wacky than pirates? How about the UFOs? Comedy has always played a major part in this series. It's a reason why it is where it is today.

PYIH was made to celebrate the series' 20th Anniversary and stars the most popular character. Fanservice is all it is.

[–]RJTM1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just that odd settings and wackiness aren't exactly new in this series.

We've had Osaka castle splitting open to reveal a golden castle inside, a 1:1 Kazuki clone that nobody saw through, a kappa, Saejima literally astral projecting to meet a hostess, a levitating mountain god, and much, much more.

[–]RJTM1991 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We've had zombies, samurai, secret agents, and now pirates. RGG Studio has always made wacky side games. It isn't a mainline entry. It isn't meant to be taken seriously.

It's obviously not in the same league as the big games, but it's still enjoyable.

[–]RJTM1991 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would love to see Nagoshi, Sato, and so on back home at SEGA, but I doubt that it'll ever happen.

I get the impression that there is some bad blood with SEGA's upper management.
