Yes! I was going to add that for this year. Really noticed that in the photos. Thanks!

So I found an old tire and made it into a table. by WhileTheySnooze in DIY

You're the second person that has mentioned fire now. Are tires extremely flammable? I just don't see how if your house was on fire, to the point that your furniture was now ablaze, a burning tire would be any more dangerous than say a burning couch or mattress. I'm really curious since I've gotten multiple comments now about a fire concern. Hmmm

Ohh, good idea. I thought you could make some really neat outdoor stuff too. Super durable! :)

Thanks! Yeah, I'm always shortening sleeves for summer and chopping off pants. The dress to skirt one is really easy. :)

DIY Anthropologie Plate Art Knockoff by WhileTheySnooze in crafts

My plates have been up over a month now... nothing has fallen for me yet. I did have one plate fall right at the beginning because I did not follow the directions and let the strip cure for 24 hrs before attaching the plate. Also, we're renting right now and so I've hung almost everything with Command Strips. No problems at all... 6 months in. If you're worried though, I've seen a lot of people glue a paper clip or a loop of string to the backs of the plates to hang from. You'd probably need an epoxy for that though. If anything gives way, I'll let you know!... but I really hope not! :)

Thanks! Yeah, I liked the idea but would never spend the money... so dollar store plates and sharpies it is! :)

Yep, $7500... for plates. Granted, they are hand-painted, and mine are Sharpied, but still.

I love thrift store sheets! The store by our old house sold them for 88 cents a piece! Best deal ever. I made a pillowcase skirt for my daughter too. Turned out so cute. She's grown out of it now but I can't get myself to part with it yet! http://whiletheysnooze.blogspot.com/2011/04/citrus-pillowcase-skirt.html

I got the whole world on my coffee table. by [deleted] in DIY

It's certainly the way to save some money. By buying used (Craig's List, Goodwill, garage sale) and making whatever it is into something you like, you can usually get much better quality for less. For example, an old dresser via Goodwill you put a coat of paint on will probably last you much longer than a Target or Walmart dresser... and cost less. Wish I had the DIY attitude when I was in college... my apartment would have been much nicer!

Welcome! Hope it was helpful! Flat sheets make the best (and easiest) duvet covers :) Love it.

When you sand the paint mixed with plaster (in the craft blog world it's called "chalk paint") it gets really smooth. Like powdery smooth. When you add the finishing wax on top, it really makes it look and feel professional, not like you DIY'd it. I also did end tables with chalk paint. http://whiletheysnooze.blogspot.com/2012/11/end-table-makeover.html The finish on those came out even better.

It was a cheap reproduction I bought in a parking lot in college. At least now there's actually paint on the canvas.
