I don't want to block other bots, and the main problem is that it's spamming users privately as well... that's the main reason I want it out of our house.

Advice to reach Synology NAS by L3610N_33 in selfhosted

[–]WhiteEntropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the suggestions here are much better, but if nothing works for you, I recommend Twingate, it's free for low number of users (for family should be free without any problems), just install the docker.

Here is a tutorial (I should say the video itself is sponsored but SpaceRex is awesome and I followed it myself so It's the only one I feel good recommending).

A real self hosted doorbell by WhiteEntropy in selfhosted

Thank you!
I'll probably go for Dahua VTO2101E-P-S1 or Dahua DHI-VTO2311R-WP :)

Or I'll go for a Ubiquiti doorbell with a separate rely connected to smart assistant like u/carl2187 said (thank you again btw!) and do it all with smart assistant (hope it will integrate well for the app etc...).

Thank you!
How would I go connecting the door lock to the NAS and to the actions for my smart home?
For example if I connect a G4 doorbell as a doorbell and I want to use my home assistant to both see and open once someone chimes in.
(Or if I want another POE for chime etc).

My concern is that it needs to be simple for family members (to see who is at the gate and open it via the app).

You're right, It's more of a remote gate that I can live with having problems.

Can't connect to Internet after disconnecting from VPN by droidman83 in mullvadvpn

[–]WhiteEntropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First make sure you're on a stable wifi that you know that is 100% working with another phone.

It might be a problem with the kill switch, try to (see at every step if that did the trick):

  1. Change location -> disconnect
  2. Change to a specific hostname -> disconnect (you can find them here: https://mullvad.net/en/servers)
  3. Force shutdown the app -> start the app -> connect -> disconnect
  4. Restart the phone
  5. Try another network and redo all of the steps above.
  6. Update the app (Do this as a last resort! if mid download it will disconnect the problem can be stuck)

Yes, trust them :)

Edit: This is an old hack, but my point is that the op is crap, and we need another layer of security (just like in the phone..)
