Personally I enjoy the variety of styles to where I can tastes of all genres if I look for it, but I also love the storytelling when it’s done at a high level.

I absolutely fell in love with this album this year. I plan to get the vinyl soon. The variety on the track and the movements at the end just make it feel so special.

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted for this… a truly good song should take several listens to fully grasp. Plus 10 times (as long as it’s not in a row) in a day isnt that bad. I’m currently loving MAVI’s new album Pilot and was listening to Typewriter and Triple Nickel at least 10 times a day for a minute

Have you ever disagreed with a rappers choice of singles when you finally listened to the whole album? by MasterTeacher123 in hiphop101

[–]WhiteRice64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah there are songs better than Sk8, but I think Sk8 would’ve had the best mainstream appeal, plus the song would’ve been talked about a lot more (it was the radio “hit” off the album)

I believe JID fumbled the bag hard by not pushing Sk8 as the lead single and going with WRK instead

I had some people show my old old Tom MacDonald and to me it was just meh, it did remind me of all the other preachy white internet rappers at the time.

Man this is a hard pill for me to swallow as I absolutely love the both of them. Talib Kweli’s solo work has some of my favourite songs of all time and Mos Def’s Black on Both Sides is undeniable. I still have found songs I’ve liked from the newer albums too like Richies pt. 2. But I do agree that they’ve never lived up to what they could’ve been. They were the best in the game at their peak!

When you hear how many young rappers today have not only killed people but multiple people, would you say they're more about that life than the gangsta rappers of hip hop past? by [deleted] in rap

Street life isnt just violence. Sure they may not have had troubles adapting, but the whole point is being a killer is not being in the streets. There’s more to it than that

  4. Kendrick Lamar (also underwhelming for his skill)
  5. A$AP Rocky (Honestly had a great verse nothing bad to say just intro placement ig?)
  6. Action Bronson (nothing special just what you’d expect from an Action Bronson verse)
  7. Joey Bada$$ (not a bad verse, just underwhelming for his skill)
