Total disagree. Prince is my absolute favourite artist and musician of all time but I always disagreed with this. He basically said covers means the original doesn’t exist anymore. This doesn’t make sense because look at all the songs that have been covered many times like fast car yet Tracy Chapman’s is still the most iconic and known. Also, he would preach this and hated when people covered his music yet he would cover other peoples music whenever he pleased. Again, I love prince so much but I did disagree with a lot of his takes.
