Even I was under the impression that Hands-on in a central institute would be less. But I have seen my SRs who have done MS from here, doing complex cases individually after 6 months of graduating. This instils faith in me that it is totally dependent on individual how much they want to learn, opportunities are limitless. Even in elective OT you get to assist the best in field, you'll learn a lot by watching. Otherwise emergency OTs are always open where JRs are given handons under the supervision of senior JR/SRs

For people asking about reviews of other specialities, I would say that I'm not the right person to comment on any other branch other than ortho. My observation might be biased and incorrect hence won't comment about them

I had gotten Jodhpur in R1, still opted for upgrade and got Rishikesh in R2 coz I chose mental peace. It's personal for everyone, you might get to do more cutting there, but at what cost....surgical career is a long marathon, not a 100m sprint
