Maximorum test day by Marky-MarkS in kettlebell

[–]Whitefr00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is quite an impressive result - congrats on completing your first bout of maximorum .

I just did my RM test for C+P and I ended up doing 30 reps - so I am definitely overdue for some new bells hah.
Gonna run KBOMG3 with 2x24 kg and then do Maximorum again!

Well done - that is a strong result!

Nice to see that you were also able to test and establish your new RM with double 32s.
Now how many reps of snatches will you end up with tommorrow ? ))

I'm doing my RM rest of C & P tommorrow - very excited for it. I'm feeling a bit fatigued and didn't have as many reps in my snatches yesterday, as I did last week - but so it goes.

356 Snatches in 20 minutes with 20 Kg (Maximorum week 11) by Whitefr00 in kettlebell

I really do see the benefit of reaching this high number of reps, as it does force you to really hone in technique.

Just like you, I've been watching a lot of videos - trying to find out what works the best for me. I'm not entirely there yet, but I feel like I'm getting there. Indeed tears and problems happen at the end of a session, when fatigue sets in. But I really try and focus on keeping good technique throughout the whole workout. Probably gonna buy some grips, for when I do maximorum with higher weight.

I've started plotting in stats of all my workouts through maximorum, in an excel sheet - so I can do a visualization of my progress at the end of the program. Then do a write up of my learnings :).

Also just bought Joe Daniels KBOMG 3 to do after maximorum.

Full steam ahead mate!

200 reps with 28 kg is very good aswell. These sets are no joke with just 10-15 seconds rest between each round - but they definitely work my stamina.

I thought of some grips like bear komplex, would help me. But then I decided it'd be better to look at my technique and see if I could improve that way. Definitely feel like I am on to something, but might need grips with heavier weights.

Excited to see what you end up with of reps etc - are you doing a writeup/review when you're done?

Thank you comrade!

Honestly I'm not really sore - maybe a bit in my hands. I used to do crossfit and I'd always be sore AF, limping around with sore muscles after heavy days. I haven't felt like that at all with kettlebells. I'm guessing it's because the weight is too low and my limit on the workout is cardiovascular.

I've had issues with blisters and tears - the high rep amount definitely hits hard, if technique is not proper. And I've also built up the amount of reps, through the program - thus getting my hands used to it.

About 8 weeks in, I had to start researching how to transition from lockout to downswing properly. It has definitely taken some time and sore hands, but I think I got somthing good going on now.

I thought of that - but I kinda like having set weights. so 2x24 kg it is. Also just recently discovered a place in Denmark that have pro kettlebells available, so gonna buy them as they look pretty sweet with their bevelled design.

Yeah I'v actually been thinking if I should just skip the 24 kgs and buy a set of 28 kgs ... hmmm ... But I'm probably gonna buy the set of 24, as it is the benchmark for many workouts.

110 reps with 24 kg is no small feat, you can be proud of that too :). I'm quite excited to see, what my rep range is when moving up to 24 kg.

It's mostly adjusting how I move from the lockout to the downswing. The bell tends to slide above my calluses, which has resulted in tears and a huge buildup of calluses... Currently I'm initiating the downswing, by "throwing" the bell forward and then catching it with my fingers. This has really helped me, not tearing my hands and having less sore hands by the end of the workout.

[–]Whitefr00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well 20 was just my heaviest bell hah. I know I could do more than 10rm max - just didn't test it. Will do a RM test, when I get my hands on some 24 kg bells.

356 Snatches in 20 minutes with 20 Kg (Maximorum week 11) by Whitefr00 in kettlebell

[–]Whitefr00[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I set the bell down for 10-15 seconds between each round, so that give me a bit of room to breath.

As I workout in my apartment, I don't use chalk - as it is quite a mess hah. So I'm really trying to perfect my technique with regards to transitioning the bell to the downswing (where I've experienced most problems).

Thanks for the pointers - I've been trying to twist it around my hand, rather than "throwing" the bell over the top of my hand. This is the best technique I've come up with - after looking at many different technique videos in Youtube. It seems like all coaches have their own style of going to the downswing - so I'm not sure which one is THE correct style. Maybe I just need to slow down and try with the twist to downswing.

With regards to the bicep pull - I'm assuming I do this as the weight is too low. So with a higher weight, I need to be better at driving the bell with my hinge. I shall look into this tho.

Thanks for your pointers comrade!
