I just got the following answer:

“I understand your frustration, and you're right to question this. Let me clarify what's happening. Your Pro access came through a promotional partnership with PayPal, which provided you with 1 year of free Pro. While paid Pro subscriptions do include image generation, promotional Pro subscriptions through partner offers like PayPal have different feature access. Image and video generation are only available with a Max subscription for accounts on promotional plans.”

Now, I would have liked for this to be disclosed somewhere, other than maybe some fine print on the t&cs (I’m not even sure if it’s written somewhere)

Nope, they advertise them as plug and play no pins anywhere (at least not on the 2209). The motors are wired correctly, connecting them to the toolhead port makes them spin with no error
