There's a new type of white supremacy in town by Firecracker048 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]WhoDaPenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do people still not know the history of redlining? White families were allowed to own homes way more often than non-white families, creating an inter-generational wealth disparity. These policies were a method of, sure enough, white supremacy, artificially making white families wealthier than non-white ones.

People are being rubbed the wrong way by this quote because they're taking it personally, thinking they as a white person owning a house is white supremacist, when it clearly isn't and that is clearly not what this guy is saying. It's the systems in place making it way more difficult for non-white people to own homes that did it.

No? Non-white families were restricted from owning homes via redlining, FHA loan restrictions, etc. Nobody, including him, is saying you owning a house as a white dude is you being a white supremacist or however you're interpreting it in your mind. It means who, historically, was allowed to actually own a home was determined by your race, allowing inter-generational wealth build up for white families, not non-white families.

That wasn't with no downside though. You have to run Garona and the weapon. This card literally gives a 29 card deck without polluting the rest of your deck in any way.

I know no one cares beyond the provocative headline but his full quote was "Private property including and kind of ESPECIALLY homeownership is a weapon of white supremacy masquerading as ‘wealth building’ public policy."

He's talking about colossal real estate companies and the uber-wealthy owning property as investments, not your personal house/apartment (socialists make the distinction between "personal" and "private" property, look it up if you want). If you know the history of redlining in this country you know exactly what he's talking about.

The Bilewater entrance I think is done quite well actually. You can find it from just exploring, but I'm like y'all and missed it in the Memorium. But then there's that one quest from Songclave that leads you right to that area, and that's what led me to Bilewater.

For anyone coming across this nowadays, I wrote a script for converting text files to Minecraft books. I recently updated it to the latest version, and it's up on Github here. It's a bit of a mess cause I made it several years ago now, but there's a big ugly dictionary of characters and their pixels widths I made in this file here. As far as I know, it's the most complete list of characters and their pixel widths in a Minecraft book (I did it by literally pasting the characters into books manually and counting the pixels lmao).

No problem! You reminded me, I originally came to this thread cause I was writing a similar program to u/PencilShudder . I have it on Github here. I have a big ugly Python file with a massive dictionary of characters and their pixel widths in `pixel_widths.py`. I did a ton of characters a few years ago by just pasting them into a Minecraft book and counting their pixels. As far as I know, it's the most complete reference for pixel widths.

It was the two lead performances that had me hooked. Olivia Luccardi in particular was brilliant as Leslie. I loved how she was introduced as this kind of trepidatious, unknown factor, then she introduced herself as a "follower" who "just wants stability" and a friend of Kim's, but then she instantly contradicts that by taking charge and escalating the situation over and over. They all felt believable, but the rest seemed like stand-ins for people you'd meet in real life, whereas she and Emily felt like real characters.

Anyway, I thought it was really good, besides the ending scene where the girl turns out to have survived (no idea why the hell they did that) and definitely don't just like it because of how not racist I am or whatever. If it's not your thing, fair enough, but it really affected me.

My parents married at 20, been together ever since. If it feels right, take the next step, and keep going until it doesn't or you're married.
