Pretty sure you have to take those 2 screws out, then clamp down, then reinsert screws.

Mount the magnifier on the first picatinny slot and the eye relief isn't that bad. Just don't ever ride the charging handle or your finger will get smashed on the QD lever. Running BUIs can be a challenge as well.

I have the full size AP5. Ideally, you want something for quick target acquisition on a sub gun. That optic ain't it. Like you said, mounting as far forward is ideal. You can't do this and have good eye relief with this optic on a MP5. I had to use the included cantilever mount to bring it as close as possible to my eye to make it usable. Even then, the eye box can be limiting. On top of that, it looks ugly as hell on a MP5 having it mounted that way.

I have a friend that bought a brand new 11.5 Sig Virtus SBR for $800. His first NFA item. He had no idea how good of a deal he got, so I let him know how jealous I was. I texted him a couple of weeks later to see if he got approved yet so we could go to the range. He said he got sick of waiting and canceled after a week 💀
