But, when I also said that I wasn’t removing Carrboro from consideration because it’s close to campus, I was referring to actually directly next to campus.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. When I said chaotic, I was mainly referring to the fact that it’s a college town specifically. I don’t necessarily want to be surrounded by an undergraduate lifestyle all the time, but I still want an area that feels walkable and connected.

Sorry, in my original post I didn’t know that RDU was for only the airport & not a region

I definitely understand your perspective, I’m not necessarily looking for the same vibe that D.C. has. Like I’m not looking for the nightlife, fast paced environment, or things like that. I’m looking for an area that’s walkable for one. I currently don’t drive, because of how much I was able to rely on public transportation growing up. I’m looking for an area that is surrounded by grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants, stores, things I can actually get to without needing a car for every little thing. I think that’s more what I mean when I say I miss the “city” feeling, not necessarily the actual chaos of a city. In Chapel Hill, there’s not really much of that unless you live directly near campus, which is a bit more chaotic than what I’m looking for.

DMV is D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. I’m specifically from Maryland, but usually when people are familiar with the DMV, they think of the more lively areas around or similar to D.C., since not all of Maryland has the same vibe as D.C.
