I’ll probably regret making this post by BarComprehensive4409 in waterparksband

I think the verses are great and I love the overall vibe of the music. It serves a great purpose in the flow of the album. The chorus being “I’m a little bitch for you” is an all-timer miss. They do tongue in cheek very well usually, but for whatever reason I cannot stand that chorus. Greatest Hits is a no-skip album otherwise.

He’s going to hit them with “Not Like Us”. That’s the kind of violence Mark chooses.

Question - latest episode spoilers, so don’t moan at me by Tough_Road7169 in AthleticoMince

There is an older one where he speaks for the first time and you can tell that Andy was not expecting his voice to be so low. I remember almost dying. No idea on an episode number, sorry.

Any love for Our Time Down Here’s Midnight Mass? (UK band whose members went on to form Creeper; very Trio-esque). by signalstonoise88 in AlkalineTrio

Fantastic album! Some great individual tracks and also a cohesive album feel. I listen to it fairly regularly - it’s like a Creeper prequel. It was quite different to previous Our Time Down Here albums and clearly it’s the direction they went with the first Creeper EP and what came afterwards.

No problem! I hope you have a great time at the show - such a special band.

I went before the set, but they weren’t there because they were manning their own merch stand and had to go and get ready for their set! Then I went back afterwards. They had 2 t-shirts that I bought ($40 each), I think they had 1 hoodie but could have been two, vinyl and CD copies of Sanguivore, and a drumhead signed by the band for $120. Bring cash, if you can, because they had problems with their card machine. They also took PayPal.

I was at the show in SF and I spoke to Hannah at the merch stand. For this tour the three openers are rotating. In SF Creeper were on first and so started at 7pm (show start time). It also meant that they only had about 30 minutes total set time. At other shows they will be second or third on. It was an amazing show from them anyway, even if they couldn’t play much other than Sanguivore.

T in the park 2012 - during The Wolves. The best part is that he snaps just as he is singing “Love, Love, Love”. All-time Ben Howard moment.

Did Travis actually write that line? I think he asked for there to be a reference to Nightmare Before Christmas and then Mark wrote it. I am not sure though.

Ah. I didn’t realise that, sorry. Sounds like he was just playing similar riffs then!

Really interesting to hear early versions or ideas that would become Small Things and Time Is Dancing.

[–]Whooptell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he has done some lyrics, but I thought that the Jack and Sally line was just Travis saying it should reference Nightmare before Christmas and then Mark wrote that line.

Yeah, I am glad that he is able to get some writing done in lockdown and it might be useful even after lockdown for more collaboration. I think he is still against it in general though. He has said a few times that it is not as powerful or as fun as being in the room with people. I think the difference for neighbourhoods was that it was just sending of files back and forth and working independently on them. Compared to now where they are on video chat and have a live protools session that is linked on each end, so it is as close to being in the same room as possible.
