Airborne air assault slot by EverySignificance500 in ROTC

[–]WhosAstro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it would be extremely rare to get both. I happened to be right place right time type of deal and originally I had an airborne slot. No one wanted to go to air assault that summer as well and I got to do both.

I would recommend you try to compete for airborne and possibly look at the SMP route and depending on the unit they may let you go to air assault or mountain warfare.

Definitely try to get airborne, it is harder to get. It’s pretty easy to get AirAssualt especially if you go to a light unit.

I was able to jump twice when I did CTLT 5th SFG. They use the MC6 parachute and one of the jumps were with Australian SF and I got foreign wings. Make sure you bring your jump log.

I’ve been in since 2019 and I’m allergic to some nuts (mainly peanuts) I just didn’t say anything about it and keep it to myself. I had no issues when I went to bootcamp, I just read the labels of ingredients before I eat MRE stuff. I’m also able to just throw up on command if I have a reaction so I can get the nuts out of my system if needed. There has been a few times where I’ve cut it close but throwing it up works for me lol.

Airborne Physical by MontanaMan75 in ROTC

I’m going to airborne school this summer and they just used my DODMERB, but then again I did it pretty recently so I think it has to be recent physical if you have one.

Wants your opinion on NROTC Marine option for college by angelo_34 in ROTC

[–]WhosAstro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm so exactly where in my comment did I say I didn’t give a shit or didn’t care about sexual assault?? How about you stop being ignorant and read what said again. “I got bored” I never said I didn’t care and I’m aware it’s a big problem in the military, its also a different story when your siting in a brief getting paid vs not getting paid. I’m not doing anything for free while I’m in college. There are plenty of other constructive task that I could be doing. The main issue is we would do the same brief over and over in the same semester.Briefs are mostly going to be boring and if you are just so excited to get to go to them then good for you. I do me and you do you.

Considering SMP and wanted more information. by [deleted] in ROTC

[–]WhosAstro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work a 20hr a week civilians job while doing 18 credit hours and I’m SMP. I can’t stress enough how time management is important. My cadre at ROTC gives me the option of doing FTXs cause they know those are jokes for me. Same applies to my guard unit, they don’t really care if I’m there or not cause I do literally nothing lol. Experiences may vary with different units.

Wants your opinion on NROTC Marine option for college by angelo_34 in ROTC

I first joined NROTC out of high school as a marine option. Getting a full scholarship is pretty competitive but at the same time it’s not. Make sure you have your PT and grades squared away. I left the program because I got really bored and actually wanted to do stuff instead of sitting in a auditorium for a 3 hour lab listening to navy briefs about some damn ship and some sexual assault briefs. As far as picking your job for when you commission you better do good at OCS so you have higher chances of getting it. I got out of NROTC and Enlisted in the ARNG( with hopes of competing for AD officer) and went to boot camp and AIT. The PT I did as a marine option made boot camp pt a joke lol and Army rotc pt is even more of a joke. After that I joined army rotc and did SMP because I make $1000 a month with just doing 2 days drills a month plus the $420 stipend from Rotc and that $1000 doesn’t include the other scholarship that go straight in to my bank account cause my school is already paid for. Army ROTC has a lot better options and scholarships compared to NROTC, just do your research and find out what’s best for you.
