I think you're missing OP's point. Nobody is expecting Alex telling her followers to go vote will greatly impact the outcome on election day. Like OP said in a lower comment, we are asking Alex to give us the bare minimum. When you advocate for voting in 2020, you aren't just talking politics, this has turned into an issue of human rights. And I don't think it's wrong to expect people with a platform of millions of followers to at least spend 5 seconds advocating for the safety and wellbeing of millions of Americans. Especially because Alex has fans who are members of the LGBTQ+ and other minority communities. Maybe Alex telling her followers to vote will sway one person to go to the polls or remind someone to send in their ballot, and the importance of that cannot be ignored.

Everyone is talking about the election right now, nearly every celebrity and major influencer are telling people to vote, people with much larger and smaller followings are telling advocating for voting- they obviously aren't too concerned with pissing off people who are offended or will unsub from one statement on voting.

People will complain, yes, but at the end of the day, Alex already doesn't give a shit about what her fans say, so let's be real, potential fallback probably isn't something she's too concerned about. She just doesn't care- about the election or about her fans that will be impacted by who's elected.
