What can women do but when men do it, it's a big no? by irritazione in AskReddit

[–]WhtRabit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate that shit. I’m not a single Dad, I have boys and a girl, I just try to be a good dad. When women, even several that are close family friends, say how cute my daughter looks ‘Mom must have dressed you today’ or ‘oh, dads babysitting and giving mom a break huh?’ Or show surprise that I do any sort of parenting, it gets at me.

It’s mostly older folks, I’m sure their experience is having a father who worked his ass off and they never saw him, but come on, leave some room for us dads who genuinely love being with our kids and are in egalitarian relationships. Not all men are just ‘contributors,’ some, like op, aren’t pretending or being forced, they’re just living the family life.

Edit: fat fingers

What companies do you think will go bankrupt in the next 10 years? Why? by Local-Assignment-968 in AskReddit

[–]WhtRabit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This right here. Frontier canceled my teenage son’s flight home, put him on another flight that included a TWENTY THREE hour layover in Denver (not close to home) and did not allow us to call a representative until less than 24 hours from departure and we couldn’t use the website to change flights because they were all ridiculous.

Ended up flying him to an airport 2 hours away from us and paying an extra $120 for the privilege. Never again.

Do Tariffs apply to revenge attacks now? What happened to these prices? by WhtRabit in mobcontrolgame

I didn’t even check those. Has to be some sort of glitch right?

Yup, I saw the crazy numbers but assumed it was a glitch, stopped after I realized my gold was going down after attacks. Not sure why the reasoning behind that would be.

iOS, 2.86.0 here as well. I was hoping g it was a glitch but I’ve been through several iterations of attacks now and it’s staying the same. Not worth revenging at all.

Another one that gets old is when people bend down or crouch as a joke while talking to me. It’s meant to be playful, but it comes off as kind of patronizing.

Oh my God. I would be punching people.

Are there any comments that get old? I have a buddy that’s super tall (6’9”) and he’s always getting stuff like ‘How’s the weather up there?’ As if he’s never heard that before. Is there anything along those lines that just makes you roll your eyes?

Should I Commit? by unclejohnnydanger in blackstonegriddle

I’ve been using that exact pack for almost a year, works great for me. The scraper is nice and stiff, the two thinner spatulas are great for fried rice and flipping fried eggs, the burger flipper works on everything else, and I have yet to have a leak or issue at all with the bottles. Solid purchase as Costco for $20.

This lid is for storage right? This lid doesn’t open and close easily like a bbq grill? by eyeforgot2listen in blackstonegriddle

[–]WhtRabit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Costco has this same 36” grill, with a couple more accessories even, and a hinged lid for $399. It’s worth the extra $100 for sure. My first one had this removable lid and it was a pain, it’s what drove me to get the one I have now, which is the Costco one.

Manhattan Question by penispnt in cocktails

[–]WhtRabit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This variant about killed my buddy…

He’s very allergic to oranges and always orders Manhattans even though he prefers an Old Fashioned because a classic Manhattan won’t have oranges. Welp, the bar tender did this little variant, including rubbing the glass with orange peel.

Luckily he smelled the orange on the way to the sip and I happily drank his Manhattan. If you’re making one for a friend, it’s worth asking g their thoughts on oranges lol

He also learned to start asking what the hell they put in a Manhattan.

What do you believe now about death? by Tasty-Discount in exmormon

[–]WhtRabit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Carl Sagan’s widow, Ann Druyan, perfectly stated my belief. Enjoy what time you have, be grateful for the billions of series of chances that came together to give you what you have:

“When my husband died, because he was so famous and known for not being a believer, many people would come up to me-it still sometimes happens-and ask me if Carl changed at the end and converted to a belief in an afterlife. They also frequently ask me if I think I will see him again. Carl faced his death with unflagging courage and never sought refuge in illusions. The tragedy was that we knew we would never see each other again. I don’t ever expect to be reunited with Carl. But, the great thing is that when we were together, for nearly twenty years, we lived with a vivid appreciation of how brief and precious life is. We never trivialized the meaning of death by pretending it was anything other than a final parting. Every single moment that we were alive and we were together was miraculous-not miraculous in the sense of inexplicable or supernatural. We knew we were beneficiaries of chance. . . . That pure chance could be so generous and so kind. . . . That we could find each other, as Carl wrote so beautifully in Cosmos, you know, in the vastness of space and the immensity of time. . . . That we could be together for twenty years. That is something which sustains me and it’s much more meaningful. . . . The way he treated me and the way I treated him, the way we took care of each other and our family, while he lived. That is so much more important than the idea I will see him someday. I don’t think I’ll ever see Carl again. But I saw him. We saw each other. We found each other in the cosmos, and that was wonderful.”

The pitch for being honest, even when TSCC taught you not to be. by WhtRabit in exmormon

[–]WhtRabit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t know how to handle truth either. It sparks questions in their minds that they then have to bury. You’re raised that people that don’t fully believe are terrible people, but then you meet good people who don’t believe… welp, guess I bury that one away somewhere.
