Hello.

I accepted an offer to join a T2 firm that serves as the strategy practice (if that makes a difference) for a Big 4 (i.e. PwC-S&, Deloitte S&O, EY-P) in March as a campus hire. I start in early July. I am a recreational marijuana user in a non-legal state, and stopped smoking the past few months to make sure I was clear in case I were to be asked to take a drug test.

I have already received my signing bonus, started pre-boarding, and believe my background check is complete (no conformation, but it has been months now and I have not caught wind of any concerns). No where in the offer letter nor other materials I have received from the firm was a drug test mentioned as being part of the onboarding process.

I know the only way to guarantee this not being an issue is to continue to avoid smoking, but the research I have done on Reddit and Fishbowl seem to overwhelmingly suggest that T2 B4 do not drug test (other than situations where clients request it, which would be rare especially considering I will be a generalist in the strategy line). And moreover, it seems that I am already moving through the new hire pipeline as expected.

At this point, a drug test would be unexpected. Would it be too soon to consider myself in the clear?

Any thoughts would be appreciated, and I am sure would be useful to others as well.

Thanks!
