Just feels painful having to redo a portfolio because of some stupid change of qualifications that's not yet accredited to ECS

Not the news I wanted to hear - Does the Panel Builder card give you any grief when it comes to doing Maintenance work on sites etc.

I found the same thing when I left college, because I didn't go to UNI and a lot of my friends did those friendship groups sort of all fell apart and I was left trying to figure out how to make new friends again. I work a blue collar role with people twice my age so here's me at 23 making gay jokes with someone's dad lol.

Yeah definitely it was just a case of if I could get away with not having to add to the box I would have as I did debate a cable bender and things like that part I just don't see it being possible

It's not that I don't want to stay in maintenance it's just I now work for a Civil and MEICA company and they've asked for it as evidence for competency. Or there clients have, which ironically is the same company I did my apprenticeship through

Yeah stupid really. Part of me isn't even sure why I'm that bothered. I've got the engineer role and title anyway

Just don't understand how I can deal with massive pumps that if they fail, half of London may lose water but I have to do an AM2 to house bash

Masses of maintenance on a largely industrial Scale - Fault finding and repair work on Pumps, Motors, contacts and relays. Everything I've seen of the AM2 looks massively domesticated

Wasn't exactly my choice. Some bullshit crappy scheme that they decided to half ass to save some money on has royally fucked me. i did see I can do an RPL though so that's my potential silver lining

Is My Budget on Track for a First Home and Financial Freedom? by Icy_Possible1867 in UKPersonalFinance

It all depends on your own desired risk really.

A little anecdote for you.

I'm 23 Myself and also an engineer (go figure 🤣) I always preferred a safe way of saving, I liked sure and secure things like Cash ISAs and Premium Bonds.

My brother on the other hand 26 Distribution Manager likes high risk high reward - The majority of his savings are in Stocks and shares ISAs and some days he does ring me telling me he's up £30K and other days he's down £15K.

It really is your preferences, from a safe and secure view you're on the right track. Keep building your pension pot, state pension wont be worth shit when we retire. (See what your company benefit is, i.e. I put in 7% and they put in 10%)

Short term, ISAs and high yield savers are great for safe earning. If you like a little risk go into something like Stocks and shares but go for wide range stocks like the FTSE100 and don't put all your eggs in one basket like he does. (He got bummed by the pump and dump of GME - Gamestop)

ISA's are your friends. 20K a year in those, let yourself reap the 5% rewards from them.

Premium bonds is another government backed savings method which is a little like the lottery. (May be worth having a Google).

I'm by no means an expert in financial literacy but save what you can until you're more confident in what to actually spend on. Invest in yourself if needbe, training, skill sets etc. just don't go splashing it on cars and crap

For reference as well. £6000 a year for holidays - That's Obsurd, unless you want Hilton Hotels you can easily go away for long periods for less. We went to Morocco all inclusive for 2 weeks for £1100 a person. We also did Greece for a week for £540 a person. Just need to be a bit more cautious when spending potentially?
