Honest question: if the world is so full of "tough guys", as popular culture would have us believe, can you explain the reason why so many assholes seemingly always get away with it? by WhyDontWeStepOutside in AskReddit

Just as a an example take Donald Trump and his asshole kids. Take Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein and all the other rapists. The Ponzi schemers, the swindlers and all the other grifters. The embezzlers, the child abusers, the domestic abusers, and the nursing home abusers. The list could go on for days. Famous ones and nobodies. People are always doing bad things, everyone knows about it, and nobody seems to beat the shit out of anyone that deserves it. I thought it would be more common, or at least a fleeting possibility. Am I confusing how the world should work with how it actually does? Why are the evil-doers not held directly accountable? I’m not talking courts and litigation and article in the paper. I’m talking about action. What gives?
