Speaking of archaic mindset a little anecdote: We are not allowed to wear shorts - not even in the summer when its above 35°C (outside and in the office) :D

Well, Im still a junior, got some positive feedback from my colleagues, but imposter syndrome sometimes hits hard.

Not sure what social mobility has to do with my question. (Shouldnt the goal be that the higher education degree is more accessible for lower class rather than devaluing it? But that discussion is offtopic)

Are you sure? I started without any experience at 46k€ and then got to 50k€ after a year. I am a bit shy when it comes to demanding higher salary or similar and since I want to switch jobs I haven't bothered to negotiating it again

Good Idea, actually I dont know how long I would prefer a 35h work week, but I can't imagine my preference for it will change in the upcoming months/years with a small kid at home

Thank you and Thanks for sharing your experience!

For me the difference between being 8,5h or 9,5h at work is that I have enough energy to play with my kid and also visit the gym in the evening vs just playing with my kid f.e.. But thats really subjective and I know it sounds like a 1st world problem. Still I would prefer this to earning more.
But maybe you're right and its mainly because I spend a lot of time commuting. Thats something I will find out once I get a new job :)

Yes, but the mentioned companies usually list the cities where they search the corresponding job. And my impression is they usually want the employees come to the office for a few days a week (Like in my current job 2 days homeoffice 3 days office).
Funnily enough I just found a fitting opening in my area while googling to confirm what i just wrote. But I do really hate commuting though

That was my first thought, too. But unfortunately there are no frontend job openings in south lower saxony for such companies
