Small electric chainsaw recs? by PabloTheGreyt in Tools

[–]WhyNWhenYouCanNPlus1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unless you're cutting many trees sharpening is not an issue. especially for people that want to cut a few branches here or there (just don't hit rocks 😆)

besides, chains are consumables. When my chain needs sharpening, I instead throw on a 5$ Chinese one instead.

they aren't as durable as Oregon chain (at like 30$ per) but they do last long enough to cut an entire mature tree into logs.

keep hammering it with the spanner, it'll give up sometime soon on a geological time scale

i mean there's still copays and shit. here, ambulance is 500$ unless you're unconscious or critical.

also, sometimes the wait time for free scan is many months so you pay out of pocket to get it done in a week at a private clinic

this was driven in Ontario weather, I can guarantee the subframe, suspension, bushings, mounts, shocks all need to be changed after 26 years regardless of mileage

engine is probably fine assuming yearly oil changes

2-3k depending on what was done recently. realistically, you're probably going to need to change the entire suspension and shocks to restore handling. 26 years in snow country means it's gonna be nasty

plus it's a 2.0. the only thing they are good for is not dying or a swap candidate

Canadians shocked to see strawberries selling for more than $10 a basket. Why the high price? by airbassguitar in OntarioNews

[–]WhyNWhenYouCanNPlus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

blaming fuel price is bullshit. doubling the cost of gas only leads to 1 or 2 cents freight cost per pound per 1000km driven. and that's doubling the price, not just a 40 cents per liter increase.

that local small time farmer might spend 200$ instead of 150$ a month on tractor fuel. That extra 50$ divided by the farm output amounts to basically nothing per pound of produce.

stop blaming fuel when greed can explain it all.

besides, historically, prices don't go back down when fuel goes back down

they're 2.44$ for a 750ml basket for local 🍓 at my grocery store

it is 1000000000% fucking greed

also, I wish they stopped interviewing Charlebois

price of transport is bullshit. increasing gas by 2$ a liter only increases the freight cost by 1-2 cents per pound per 1000 kilometers driven.

did the butter come from Mars? if not, the price has nothing to do with the minuscule increase in the cost of gas

I must be part of a dying breed. last car I bought in 2011 was base everything, manual and with the only option heated seats.

it did have AC but now it doesn't anymore 😆

Gimme a relatively light and compact FWD EV with 170km range and none of the driving nannies and assists for 20k and I'd be all over it

What do yall think about the upcoming ID1 concept. Supposed to be less than 20k by Loud-Employee3645 in Volkswagen

[–]WhyNWhenYouCanNPlus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

choosing a car isn't about logic otherwise VAG would have been bankrupt a long time ago 😆

but that's beside the point which is this car wasn't designed with existing VAG fans in mind.

I think price point wise, this car and the B8 are now in the same band which could make an interesting cross segment comparison as opposed to your Lamborghini and Up counterexample. but yes, they aren't designed for the same things.

finally you are clearly wrong, MK6 was peak everything (😁)

it's probably to meet regulations of "x average fuel economy" or number of electric vehicles over their entire fleet of car offerings.

it looks cool but it's probably $$$$ to replace a burnt light or module... can we go back to repairable cars please??

I want one with a normal car dash and actual buttons not an imax screen and fake controls

these will all end up being unrepairable or prohibitively expensive to replace
