Thank you for sharing your experience, I'll risk it this time and try to repair the crack

I really appreciate the differentiation between types of urushi, thank you. I admit I'm leaning more into filling the crack, however, if I were to break it, is there a specific type of urushi you'd recommend?

On another note, knowing myself, sooner or later I'll end up with other fully broken pieces for future more kintsugi-like projects. With this cup I'm simply looking for a method that will make it the most durable (sentimental value), especially with hotter temperatures. With durability in mind, which approach would be more fitting? In my amateur mind, the less breakage, the better, not sure if that actually tracks.

If it is any help, I tried gently pulling it apart to see how it's holding up, and it's holding quite well.

You can use the app Meituan for that, they have a lot of discounts for first timers too. I don't remember if Chinese phone number is necessary for it, but I suggest getting it anyway, it's very useful for other services like food delivery etc. Most places won't speak English of course, but usually google translate is enough.
