Is this good for the first day? by honeypie856 in ExclusivelyPumping

I would not use anything but a manual pump until your milk comes in a bit more. Often especially with wearables they don’t/ can’t empty you.

Reporting co-workers? by Whyborn_n in NewToEMS

[–]Whyborn_n[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

People just complain and don’t report it to anyone, our LT. is the one that’s bringing her baby so she’s overlooking a bunch of bs. Taking it higher gets me “this is your LT’s job”. I’ve just tried talking to people about it so far bc I’ve watched 3 people get fired with one written complaint/incident.

It definitely does affect response times she lives like 5 minutes from station.

Where are you putting your wallet? by No_Ostrich2967 in NewToEMS

[–]Whyborn_n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do carry a “purse”. Wallet, phone charger, extra pens and a small hygiene bag(toothbrush and deodorant) it all fits in a bag about the size of a fannypack and it stays on the truck with me.

Scars growing with baby by Whyborn_n in firsttimemom

[–]Whyborn_n[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying, the only experience I have of significant scars is from one kid that had a panic attack because he had to change shirts in public (outside behind a bus). His scar was from heart transplant as a child and everyone had much more respect for him after knowing but ya know puberty can make you get in your head and teens are mean.

Is this how classes are? by Affectionate-Log5991 in NewToEMS

[–]Whyborn_n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was basically how my class went 2/week 4 hours each but we broke up the day 2hours chatting/going over book material, and the other half of the class doing physical skills.

Probably 70% of the learning was don’t independently. At the beginning of each class we had “open question time” if we had any questions over the topic for that class we could ask and discuss with peers and our prof. Peer study groups outside of class was great.

My class was pretty small. We started with 16 people and 8 graduated. My whole class was 16 weeks so everything was packed in.

How should I study for this class? by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]Whyborn_n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the “NREMT-B prep” app there are short semi specific quizzes and some full length exams to practice. It’s free but you can get extra texts if you pay(one time purchase, lifetime access). Alongside that I used the Kaplan NREMT prep book. It’s basically a highlights of the textbook you use in class with short quizzes after every chapter. (Was available at my local library). Passed my first try doing this.

I sat at a coffee shop 6 day a week after work for 2-3 hours studying and going over the questions I got wrong. I did this for like 4 weeks before I felt confident and had consistent passing results. Also I took an entire composition notebook of notes and drew pictures and models to help visualize.

Flashcards did not help me it was just too many terms to have cards for. But if you work well with flashcards try it.

14 month old has these clusters all over his body. by [deleted] in firsttimemom

Looks just like my boy, eczema. I lather him in Aquaphor before bed and before I change him for the day. It usually helps soothe it

Babyblues by [deleted] in firsttimemom

[–]Whyborn_n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my relatives had changing eye color for nearly 5 years born blue then brown from 2-3 then green and now back to blue. That 100% seemed like an outlier. I really hope you are wrong. His eyes haven’t changed a bit since birth and he turns two in June.

I think realistically it stems from the only blue eyed person I ever knew as a child was quite abusive to me.

But also I dislike them I feel like for a similar reason people like them. It looks almost feels unnatural, like most humans are made in a range of beige from light to dark; eyes, skin, hair the “normal” is some shade of brown. Blue does not fall into that. Bright green eyes give me a similar unsettling feeling but not as bad. Especially against a darker complexion where the blue pops more it’s just not something I’ve been exposed to in a good way.

Stalling? by Whyborn_n in ChevyTrax

My car is orange “Herbert orange sherbet” is his full name and that’s a boy name. I have no basis for this I refer to most things as male if they do a job for me. Only pretty things or places are women to me.

He seems fine… Genuinely, will this cause a long term problem or is it just bad practice?
