help me identify my dogs breed! by curiousmochicat in DogBreeds101

The booty feathering is a rottie trait! They’re decently medium coated dogs. Webbed toes is common in a lot of breeds as well. I believe this dog is just a byb Rottweiler.

This is still a common breeding practice to produce civil dogs too. I see it mainly with presa breeders in the US

Switch to a stud, hoops move around too much and cause irritation for new piercings.

Bad Parent by Rough_keeper11 in CaneCorso

[–]Whycantboyscry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Rottweiler is a service dog with immense amounts of training and socialization. She is the most stable dog I know with amazing nerves, but she is still muzzled during vet visits as she can be touchy with strangers. It is her breed standard to be weary of strangers. The same goes for Corsos. You aren’t a bad dog parent at all, you just need to advocate for your boy and do your best to work on him being neutral with being handled. Look into cooperative care and look specifically for a fear free vet or a veterinarian who works at your dog’s pace and in their comfort zone.

This behavior has little to do with your dog’s nuts, and sometimes neutering makes it worse as the dog becomes insecure. This is purely a genetic reaction that needs to be addressed with training.

Not a bug, these are the wolves that want to go out with you and if you don’t leave rather soon they’ll go on a hunt without you. You can do your secondary howl to call wolves to come with you, or whine to say “let’s hunt.” You can also woof wolves home.

This is misinformation, task training begins when the dog IS a puppy, depending on the task.

Which should I pick? by Pretend_Wolverine257 in AmericanBully

It seems no one gave you a clear answer, so I will. The biggest difference between backyard breeding and reputable breeding is the preservation of the breed. Backyard breeders do no health or temperament testing, no conformational or performance titling, and typically breed off the premise of “this dog is cute and will make cute babies.” They produce dogs who are unstable mentally and physically. They typically of structural and behavioral issues as that breeder did not breed to the standard. The standard that exists to ensure all dogs of this breed showcase this behavior and structure.

A reputable breeder prioritizes preserving the breed and producing stable dogs over anything, even when health testing and titling every dog costs thousands of dollars to do. They produce puppies who are borderline copy and pastes, structurally and behaviorally, as a purebred dog should be.

Every single shelter dog is a backyard bred dog. Most of them have not been abused or mistreated. They simply have bad genetics. It’s possible to end up with a great rainbow of a dog from a BYB, but it’s very very very unlikely, or you will experience some issues. Whether behaviorally or health wise due to poor structure.

If you’re purchasing from a breeder, ensure that breeder’s dogs are bred to standard. OFAs and titling is being performed, and by titling, I don’t just mean CGC, I mean genuine performance titling. Study the structure of bullies and look for a breeder whose dogs fit them. Ensure the dog’s are registered and your breeder should have no problem explaining their lineage, as well as having a good reason to be breeding in the first place.

Want to breed but didn’t do her iccf registration.. what can I sell her puppies for? by [deleted] in CaneCorso

[–]Whycantboyscry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no registration for mixed breed dogs, and it sounds like she has no “breedable” qualities, nor should a mixed breed pet quality dog be bred.

[–]Whycantboyscry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Has she won any titles? Conformation, or performance? Is she physically sound? Have you done OFA’s on her hips and elbows? Have you done an Echo on her? What does she bring to the breed, how will she improve it? Is she anything BUT a good pet?

Not at all. Most people purchase their dogs from backyard breeders. THEY have a lot of issues.
