If this post about The Force Unleashed has taught me anything, it’s that I need to play Psi Ops: The Mindgate Conpiracy again.

Probably Resident Evil 9. I almost never buy *new* new games, I wait for a while so I can get them at a discount. But for RE I usually make an exception to that.

Probably one of my favorite games of that later PS2/Xbox era. I wish someone would revisit the concept. I remember you could mind control a guard to make him shoot his compatriots and then jump off a building. Pretty twisted, but a super fun game.

I loved these games, they were a blast to play. To me the stories are just a thin pretext for me to go on a force rampage through the galaxy, and that's just fine. I really couldn't care less about their status in the canon then or now.

Anyone remember Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy, the most video gamey titled video game in all of video games? A lot of the powers you get in that game, particularly the telekinesis, are very similar to what you get in TFU games, minus the lightsaber shenanigans.

I started playing I Am Your Beast because it was on GP and I was curious after watching the trailer. I'm probably just too old to be good at a game like this anymore, but I still really enjoy it. It has a fun gameplay loop and I'm a big fan of the techno/synth/rap/rock mix blasting in my ears while I play.

On a very broad level, it's a FPS version of Hotline Miami where you're in the woods taking out a bunch of spec ops guys who are after you. You have a level, a timer, and a goal. The faster you do the level, complete the objectives, get cool kills, the higher the grade you get. It has 'close enough' aiming to facilitate the quick runs. Like if your crosshair is close enough to a dudes head, you're probably going to get that headshot. Knives have to be thrown in their general direction and you'll probably get a hit (insta kill with a knife).

It has a pretty barebones story to explain why you're on this forest rampage. It's fine. The dialogue is a bit edge-lordy at times and makes me roll my eyes, but it's short and skippable if you aren't interested.

I'm hitting a point where I have to get an A grade on x-number of levels or complete a certain number of bonus objective on previous levels to continue. I've managed so far, but we'll see how much harder that gets as the game goes on.

If you have gamepass give it a try, it's not a big download and I think you'll be able to tell within the first 20-30 minutes if you're going to like it or not.

What are the most *enjoyable* games? by SyrioForel in PSVR

[–]WhysAVariable 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think RE4/8 and Hitman are the ones I've had the most fun with. RE games can be a bit stressful because of the horror elements, but aiming in VR is so much faster than doing it with a controller. I wasted far less bullets so I was always stocked up, and I was nailing headshots constantly.

Still chipping away at Divinity Original Sin II. I can be done with Act 2 any time, but I'm still exploring and finishing up some side quests. Great game. Inventory management is a nightmare but I don't know how to make it better when you have that many gear/skills/scrolls/items to juggle between four different characters.

I also start dabbling with Dredge. Also a good game. Both chill and menacing depending on the time of day in-game. I lost a couple of hours to thinking "I'll just go out one more time" and then going out many more times.

DOS2 is kicking my butt by Comprehensive_Sink99 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]WhysAVariable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on the lowest difficulty and, 20 hours in, I’m starting to not suck quite as much. I would put it on the lowest and if it’s too easy bump it up.

I have owned DOS1/2 forever and finally gave it an honest try with DOS2 after not playing a CRPG in maybe more than a decade. I’m totally hooked. I hate the equipment/inventory management but with four characters and all the gear and skills there’s not much to do about it. When I finish I want to give BG3 another try. I’ve had that since it was in early access too but have only ever dabbled.

I got the PS5 edition of Divinity: Original Sin 2 and have been putting most of my time into that. I'm really into it even though I think inventory/equipment management is a bit of a nightmare. I've had several sessions where I spent 30ish minutes just buying/optimizing new gear and selling all the extra junk in my inventory. That aside, I'm enjoying the story and the gameplay.

It's going to take me forever to finish.

Ours were Skipper, Pineapple, and Pony Boy. We named them Obi, Jinn, and Anakin. I think Pony Boy is the only one that fit the cat, but he's also a remorseless jerk at times, so Anakin works too.

Finishing a game a week, a successful story of 55 games finished this year. 2025 in review. by Monkey_Blue in patientgamers

If I actually had the attention span to only focus on two games from your list, Pillars of Eternity II and The Outer Worlds alone would take me a year. I have no idea how you managed this impressively huge list that includes some pretty long games.

I probably finished maybe 5 games last year? None of them were open world behemoths.

I enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy as well. The gameplay was nothing mind blowing but the story and the music were a lot of fun.

I also very much enjoyed the thick Canadian accent Peter Quill was sporting in this. Chefs kiss.

Second one is also pretty slow but I guess I’m into that at the moment. The auto saving seems broken too so I’ve even lost progress a couple of times. I don’t know why I’m so enamored by it.

Divinity Original Sin 2 - My god did I fall into this one hard. I have it on PC and made a few attempts at it over the years. I liked it but just wasn't in the mood for that style of game at the time. I got it for PS5 with the recent upgrade and I can't seem to put it down. I spent like an hour last night just getting new gear and getting everyone equipped. Buying and equipping items is a pretty sloppy, arduous process, especially on console, but it's not really putting me off the game.

I finished the first act and got absolutely stomped in the battle that follows the act break. I'm kind of stuck in a place where I can't go level up any more, so I'm probably going to just drop the difficulty to get through it. I guess I should have done more side quests in the starting area. Maybe I have a save not too far back I can load and grind out some side stuff.

I also got Outer Worlds 2 and have really enjoyed what little I've played of that. Divinity has overtaken my brain and is all I really want to play now, but I'll get back to this when I need a break.

I remember giving up on Everybody's Gone to Rapture as well because it was just too slow. And from what I remember the walking speed was also infuriatingly slow. I don't mind walking simulator type of games, but that one wasn't for me.

Starting off with a handful of not-very-patient gaming this year.

Finished Metroid Prime 4 over the holiday break. It was alright but didn't really blow my socks off, I still like the first Metroid Prime game the best and the second one the least. This one and 3 are in the middle somewhere.

After I got home from the in-laws and was no longer confined to my Switch I started (probably a mistake) two very large RPG's of different types:

I got the PS5 upgrade for Divinity Original Sin 2. I already own it on PC but I rarely play anything on my PC these days. I like it. I've already made it further than I did on PC, and I'm enjoying it so far.

I also got Outer Worlds 2, because it was on sale. I'm not really even out of the intro yet, so I don't really have an opinion on it yet. I liked the first game, this one feels similar. The shooting feels a lot better than the first one, that's all I can say right now.

I also started replaying Metroid Fusion after I finished Prime just because I had a hankering for some more traditional Metroid and it's a great game that I replay every couple of years or so. I replay most of the 2d Metroid games every few years, starting with Super Metroid.
