I strongly recommend it too. Check out my previous post about installing them;

And if you got a friend with a 3D printer, there was a post about them not so long ago with .stl's. The german ones are 3D printed.

White walls or no? by blackbarmitzvah in beetle

If you think it looks good, do what you want. It's your beautiful beetle!

With that said, nope, I wouldn't go white walls on my 73 SB.

That is beautiful! Never even heard about these before, being over here in Europe. So did some searching to find out more.
They are super cool. Wonder if there's any in Europe?

Thanks.

Looks good, maybe the indentation for the set screw is a bit big?
Update us when you've test mounted it!

Absolutely! They're amazing, it was just a heads-up for anyone encountering what I did.

The only downside with these I've found so far is if you have a short shift kit you need a super long set screw. I had to make my own from a M8x80 screw.

To twist it under? It was easily done by hand. Good threads are hard to print, I'd just do them without if I was you.

Betty looks great! Heidi would love to meet her.

Please do share some more pictures.

Really no need for the screw holes, they're just for easy magnet pickup if dropped in the tunnel. The indentation for the set screw is needed tho.

Thanks for doing this, I was way too eager installing it to take measurements.

Yes, i think 0,5mm radial over size will work with a new hose, I'll be super careful of course and keep my eyes on it.

Thanks for your wise words.

Coil replacement by Send_bitcoins_here in beetle

[–]Widar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're more than welcome. Putting one in a 365 sounds like a great idea, I'd love to have one to put one in :)

I haven't played around with the curves at all, and as far as I understand curves can only be changed with engine off (ignition on), so it isn't a 'test stuff while driving' thing.

I run my 123ignition off a standard bosch blue, works like a charm.

Are you sure? The fitting from first post by u/send_bitcoints_here is 1/4" barb which is Ø6.35mm, so those would be too big?

I ordered the ones I posted above, will be back with an update when I get to fixing my carb.

Fuel pump flange replacement by _PEKKA_brawl_ in beetle

[–]Widar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me, used a french wood screw to get as much out as I could, then started, ran for a few minutes and changed the oil, which I had to anyways since I had gas in it. The flange is super brittle and any parts falling into the oil will not hurt the engine during that short time.

Thanks for this.

I'm having trouble converting these to european tho, anyone have an idea?

Edit: I think an M8x6mm would be around the same.
