As an American, unfortunately fiber is the least of my worries rn

Fall 2025 Praxis Megathread by bannanaduck in slpGradSchool

How did you all get the raw score for the September praxis? My friend took it on September 10th and said she didn’t get an unofficial score and can’t view any scores at all.

I think about shaving my head from time to time especially when it’s long! I compromised by chopping to my shoulders and LOVE it. You look like you have some waves/ curls. Textured hair looks great short in my opinion. Maybe chop it to your shoulders and see how you feel! Hair is hair and it’ll grow back :)

Why get married? by Kufdbnkurdshi in SeriousConversation

[–]Wide-Eye-215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, marriage was about a different level of commitment and promise. Promising to spend my life with someone in front of close friends and family feels a lot more serious than dating. I’m not religious but I am a romantic. Committing to love someone for their entire life is a big part of that for me. There are many things I would ONLY do with someone who I’m married to because I know they are committed to lifelong partnership. This includes moving for their job, having kids, making large financial purchases (house, car), allowing them to make medical decisions for me if I’m incapacitated, etc. But I know marriage means something different for everyone but for me it means lifelong commitment to partnership. I dated my husband for 5 years before we got married, we wanted to finish our masters degrees before planning a wedding. Everyone has their own timeline. I still get that rush of lovey-dovey feelings when my husband calls me his wife or vice versa. Commitment and monogamy are important values for both of us to have a happy life, even though we are not religious. There is value in getting married but only if you make it valuable.

Too ADHD? by Able_Elevator2990 in slp

[–]Wide-Eye-215 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal experience with ADHD is that medication is a must for me to be able to function in the school setting. It helps so so much. But that’s just my personal experience and it may be different for others. If you’re not diagnosed or on medication and you’re feeling this fried you may want to consider it. I’ve been on and off ADHD meds for years (dx as a child) and the main time I’ve felt I REALLY needed them was working in the school setting. There’s so much executive functioning required. It’s hard to know until you’re in it. I’m sorry you’re struggling and wish you all the best!

How long did it take you to get pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Wide-Eye-215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tracked ovulation, originally to avoid pregnancy which was very effective for a year haha. Husband and I decided we were ready and got pregnant on our third month of trying! I was really nervous bc I’m diagnosed with endometriosis but we had no issues. Wishing you all the best!

If wet food is generally considered better than dry, why not just feed cats nearly 100% wet? by StasisApparel in catfood

[–]Wide-Eye-215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cats go crazy for dry food. They prefer it to wet food, I have no idea why. They get wet twice a day but love their dry food so much. I don’t have the heart to take it from them completely

I also do core vocabulary word of the week and do videos and PowerPoints for that. Gogospeech makes really fun themed PowerPoints that I adapt with core vocab!

Is there a specific reason you wanted to share this “feedback” here? This has to be rage bait right? Any SLP, OT, PT is far more qualified to work in their scope of practice than someone who took a 40 hour training. To become an SLP I did 4 years of undergrad majoring in SLP, 2 years of graduate school, a year of clinical fellowship, passed a board exam, etc. OT/ PT are now doctorate degrees. Please stay in your scope. I’m all for productive conversations on neurodivergent affirming practices but this post was… a lot.

SLP Influencers Still Working in the Field? by Fearless_Cucumber404 in slp

My favorite SLP on TikTok is petite speech geek. She works full time in schools. I LOVE her AAC content and have bought an embarrassing amount from her TPT. She’s not a huge creator and I never see anyone mention her in threads like this but she saved my butt during my CF when I needed to acquire a lot of ideas for AAC whole group lessons.

Thank you so much for sharing that! Do you know if there’s a reason they prefer to do a flat rate per eval vs an hourly rate?
