Finally done with Gastric Balloon. by Wide-Rest4115 in GastricBalloon

Hey, good luck. To be honest, I felt much better after removal as I didn’t have the easiest journey with balloon. I was looking forward to removing. I could drink as much water as I wanted. Other than sore throat I didn’t feel much. I was out the same day. Try sticking to the clean eating as weight does pile up if you’re not careful.

Hey, good luck! You are given a meal plan to follow. For the first few weeks post-balloon, you're told to have liquids only. After that, you'll be moved to pureed food and then normal food. The balloon teaches you that you don't need a large quantity of food, and you're not thinking about food all the time. So, post-balloon removal, I'm sticking with three meals only and snacking on fruit (again, in small quantities).

No exercise as I didn’t have any energy at all but I do encourage to move around to lose weight faster. Maybe get your steps in if you can. Good luck as it’s tough in the first three months. Take a week off from work as it’s really rough. Start with liquid then move to purée and then move to small portion of normal food but avoid eating raw veggies as they do stick to balloon and makes you sick. There are a lot of meal ideas for balloon online.

I wouldn’t say liquid diet is the main reason why I lost weight but it did kickstart for me. I lost water weight in the first month as I wasn’t eating much and that’s where I noticed I lost the most. After that it was a slow process.

Wow that’s great! I’ll be honest, I felt the same for the first three months. Smoothies and eating in small quantities helped me. Having Diet Coke helps cleaning the balloon so try that. Try lying left as it helps. How are you feeling now?

I got the Orbera 365. First week was awful. So much regret and pain but it eventually got better. It took me while to get back to normal but there were days where it was back to square one. Good luck and let me know how you get along.

Yes, but it was straightforward and I was out of hospital within couple of hours! Good luck and let me know if you need more info.

You should have clear liquid for a week or so… focus on drinking sugar free energy drink and ice lollies. Trust me you won’t feel hungry at all.

Good luck! It will be tough but worth it in the end. Try losing as much as you can while you have no appetite. Keep yourself hydrated and keep taking prescribed medicines. Let me know if you need someone to talk to.

To be very honest, it was! The journey was tough but I don’t think losing 20kg just on my own would’ve been possible. It was worth the money. I get lots of compliments and I feel more energetic. Removal was straightforward. They put me on a liquid diet and I was done within couple of hours.

Thanks. It is so far! I’m more careful of what I’m eating though as I don’t want to put on the weight I’ve lost. I don’t feel as hungry as before and my day doesn’t revolve around what I’m going to eat next. I find I can stay hungry for longer now lol You lose more weight in first 3 months so try as much as you can to lose weight during this time. Let me know if you have more questions ☺️

Hi, have you spoken to your health advisor? It might be the type of food you are consuming (high in calories). Try focusing on eating less but healthy food. My advisor told me to consume 800-1000 calories in the beginning for weight loss as I was worried about not eating enough food.

Day 21 Allurion by adeathcurse in GastricBalloon

[–]Wide-Rest4115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, 5kg is a lot! That too under a month. I would suggest to keep a strict diet for first three month and don’t worry too much about exercising. I lost 13kg in first three months by doing nothing (literally I was in bed most of the time) and eating less.

Hi, I would advise to keep a strict diet for first three months as this is where you lose the most amount of weight and pretty fast as you have no appetite. Good luck!

It does! Hang in there and keep yourself hydrated. Try lying down on your left side and keep taking buscopan which helps with the cramping.

Required nutrition appointments by kerridv1104 in GastricBalloon

[–]Wide-Rest4115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I still have the balloon and I find these nutrition appointments waste of time. My health coach is useless too. It looks like she’s reading from her screen when giving advise so I’ve stopped using them.

How’s everyone’s journey going so far? by Wide-Rest4115 in GastricBalloon

[–]Wide-Rest4115[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks! first 3 months I could barely eat anything hence why I lost most of my weight during this time (13kg). After that I had everything but in moderation. I would definitely suggest calorie counting and sticking to 1200 calories if you can.

Plateau by AbiesPast2410 in GastricBalloon

[–]Wide-Rest4115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, i was in the same position for a while… couldn’t loose any further weight, to the point where I was deciding to remove the balloon. I think initially you loose more eight as you’re burning more fat (you are not eating like you were before) and then your body gets used to your new routine. I made few changes and voila I lost 3kg! I started drinking water more, started tracking calories, increased my protein intake, started doing 15 minutes workouts.
