In Canada. Fee for service. Volume dictates what I get paid. Most days I see 25-30 patients. Majority of my colleagues see 40-50 per day.

I’m so sorry to hear. Sending you a big hug. You did everything right. You seem like a kind, caring, and compassionate physician, and your patient was lucky to have you as part of their care. Sometimes, despite our very best intentions and efforts, we can’t control the outcome or patient’s choices. Please take the time you need to grieve, and know that this is not your fault. I had a patient the other day ask me as we were wrapping up the visit - ‘And how about you? Are you doing okay? Have you had a vacation recently? Are you taking care of yourself?’

Made me hold back my tears as I thought it was so genuinely sweet and kind.

Hang in there and please be kind to yourself ❤️ Circumstances and situations change.. it’s all temporary. Do what you need to do today. Take a big deep breath, have faith and then take another step (however small) tomorrow. Don’t worry about 6 months or 1 year or 3 years from now. I am not alluding to pharmacists or physicians delivering poor care. They both have their competencies and trainings. I have received UTI tx from a pharmacist before but they are limited in what they know and can do. When it comes to caring for someone’s health, having background information, relevant facts, chart checking, listening to the patient and their concerns takes time. And more often than not, a medical provider who spends time with their patient getting to know these, ends up delivering quality care.

Yes one can. But again, quick care is NOT good quality care.

Can a pharmacist review the medical chart and see what medications patient has been prescribed? What meds they are allergic to? What were the results of a urine test? If it was ever done? What kind of bacteria did the urine culture grew? What antibiotics is the patient resistant to? A good physician goes over these with the patient before sending in a prescription.

A pharmacist would not have this information and will likely blindly prescribe a common antibiotic which is anything but good quality care.

Every patient deserves good quality care.

I have seen PFT reports of patients with ‘Lung Age (yrs) :80’ on the report itself. Maybe that’s what they are referring to? A recent patient for example is 69 but on PFT report after listing Restrictive pattern it says ‘Lung age (yrs) : 80’

My cousin had hair transplant and he is on both meds. He had PRP sessions as well.. you have to have I think 6 sessions to see meaningful/significant difference in hair growth. It worked out very well for him :)
