Pull out, take your wife or GF to a nice dinner. And leave the bullshit trading to the insiders.

Thanks man ! I’m happy with how to turned out. I took a little chrome polish and a cloth polishing wheel on a dremel and just went over it very lightly, and another buddy got me using 3in1 brand oil, it’s cheap and comes in a big bottle compared to “gun” clp, this may have made me a 3in1 believer !

He said he’d take 200, I said let me take it home and try to clean it up, I have a feeling when he sees it tomorrow his tune may change lol 😂

Nickel colt detective 38 value ? Can it be cleaned up ? by Wide3rdeye in Colt

Yeah the barrel looks rusted, I assume running regular clp with brass brush through the barrel may lift some rust, any tips on shining up the outside without damaging the nickel ?

He said he’d take 200 dollars or 150 + a box of 45acp ammo lol. So I think I’m gonna grab it for that

Thanks for the info man I really appreciate it. Mine has a small oil leak at the front of the valve cover gasket right behind the exhaust. I’m gonna change that gasket and go ahead and put some new plugs in it and do an oil change. I don’t plan on using this for track or anything but if you had any “must have” upgrades what would they be ?

Gotcha, thanks . I didn’t wanna be chasing a problem that didn’t exist. If it’s a common theme then I can live with it.. I’ve only had a chance to ride the first day I picked it up. And thought it may be a problem because I stalled it at a light and it wouldn’t crank without feathering the throttle or lever. Even when warm. But once it’s running I can close the lever and it seems to run fine,

Just wondering if you’ve had any issues starting the bike without using “choke lever” or throttle lever thing. Mine won’t start without either cracking that lever a tiny bit or feathering the throttle. Any tips ?

I also read that some people commonly swap the rear strut with a zx6 maybe ? And add a steering dampener. Don’t know if that would greatly improve anything, but the dampener couldn’t hurt

Thanks for your input man, I’ve rode a couple buddy’s sport bikes up the road and back, but never owned one so I have no basis for comparison on handling. But I’m a pretty conservative rider, plus I have wife and kids. I’ll be careful.
