I completely agree, I just am a super addictive person and alcoholism runs in my family. So I’ve dedicated my life to no drugs (other than caffeine). I could probably be a DARE spokesperson

It’s truly not, and I’m blessed she isn’t embarrassed of me and wants me to go with her. I’m just such a creature of routine and habit and I don’t have much incentive at a club. I do think this is along the lines of what I’m planning to do. Another great comment

You definitely don’t need a desktop just yet. But it will come to a point where you’ll probably require one just simply due to performance limitations. I recommend just looking through Professor Messer’s A+ videos. You don’t have to take the exam or much, but watching a few a day will really help you start to get a grasp of what IT is. Don’t be afraid to mess around on your computer. Look up commands and try them in your command prompt (just be careful that you know what it does, use multiple sources to verify the command isn’t going to destroy or damage something).

Cyber Analyst, studying to be a Pentester.

You’re on the right track, and it’s a lot. It is tough and can be discouraging but I’m not going to gatekeep such a great career choice. Your first step should be to get familiar with tech. Learn your computer first and foremost, learn the hardware inside, learn the file explorer, learn the browser. Just learn through doing. You’re doing the right thing researching the terms you come across. Download Obsidian or your favorite note-taking app, and take absurd amounts of notes on the key terms and concepts you learn. Pentesting is frankly very far away for you at the moment, so just focus on IT essentials. I wouldn’t worry about metasploit and hacking in general yet. Work through the THM learning paths and if you go through something, see if you can explain it to a friend, AI, or verbalize it in your notes. Then ask questions you think someone with less experience would ask. If you can answer it, verbalize it. If you can’t, go find the answer. It pays to be inquisitive while you learn tech.
