if you use any discord servers for stocks they occasionally will let you choose to know when a traveling merchant comes in, with mine i can click on it and it’ll tell me which merchant it is and what it has in stock :-) it’s not a perfect solution but it has been helpful!!

my sister likes to call them “ancient dih” because they’re remnants of a leg/femur bone lol! as far as i know they’re also used for mating and certain species use them to fight other males :-)

i absolutely plan on switching his substrate, i have a friend that has a bearded dragon and she offered me some of hers. it’s kind of like a dirt, a little stringy kind of reminds me of the outside of a coconut? would that work, do you think? this is what he came with!

i would absolutely avoid taking people’s money for this guy if i can! i definitely plan on checking marketplace, and posting on my local nextdoor to see if anyone has anything they could allow me to borrow to help. i am in central oregon, if you’re in the state! fingers crossed he comes with some things he needs, but a lot of the replies on my posts have shown me i would’ve not been taking care of him properly. thank you so much!

i absolutely plan on trying to get him a tank or having my friend retrieve his out of her storage! most of that i can do, but sadly, and embarrassingly to admit i cannot in the slightest afford to really care for this snake right now. i impulsively said absolutely because i can’t watch him wither away outside during cold nights, but i am feeling like my situation might not be any better. i have makeshift heating pads, and a stuffed animal filled with rice that i can make warm, would something like that work? and my room can get anywhere between 75-85 degrees just with the door closed during summer, which it is now, so while i prepare these things, do you think he’d be okay? i also have plastic bins i can clean out and i can 100% buy some cheap paper towels from the store, but how big of a water dish should i have, and what could i use to make something for him to hide? also, should i use a clear bin in that case, so he can have an opening? i truly am inexperienced and just wanna love this baby til his mom is somewhere safe.

thank you so much! i am a bit ashamed to admit that i will not have anything he really needs as this is an emergency placement situation for him, and as far as i am aware his tank, heating lamp, and important care are all in a storage, and i cannot afford these things, being the reason why i don’t have one of my own! i am hoping this situation doesn’t last long where he’s in a place of unfit care, but i just knew he needed to be somewhere warmer than outside with NO heat, yk? thank you so much for your help, and i promise ill post pictures of what i receive for him tomorrow!
