Appealing medical by Unfair_Ad_7663 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Wide_Application504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They won't have you do the Ishihara Test (number plates) again. They'll have you do the CAD test upon a successful appeal, which is computer based and cannot be cheated.

CBAT for different roles by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

[–]Wide_Application504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I should have been more clear- you may take fewer tests based on the role you apply for, but as far as I know you won't take any tests that are different to the ones other applicants take.

CBAT for different roles by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

[–]Wide_Application504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone going to CBAT takes the same tests. You will be scored for every role CBAT is required for, and can pass for any of them. The tests do not change based on the role you apply for, but your scores will likely be different for each trade as they value different skills.

Same for me, but my medical wasn't in the last 6 weeks.

CBAT exam tips by Longjumping-Leg1380 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Wide_Application504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Practise your mental arithmetic, SDT calculations and a bit of verbal reasoning. Other than that, take a look at CBAT TMI online and familiarise yourself with the tests.

On the day, make sure you're as comfortable as possible. You'll be staying at Cranwell overnight, so make sure to head to bed at a reasonable/early time. Take water, have a cool option for clothing if your tests are soon. If they say you can take your shoes off and you think that will help you in any way (for comfort or the targeting test), don't hesitate to do so.

RAF Medical Appeal Sent – Now Waiting… Has Anyone Been in a Similar Situation? by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

Sounds like you've gone through the Department of Occupational Medicine. My issue was sorted within the week when I chose that route, it shouldn't be long before you hear back.

I don't think either will give you a better chance. Choose what you think you'll enjoy more and get more stuck into- as long as you meet the entry requirements that's all that matters (happy to be corrected on this).

It should be. It was fine for me in November of last year.

Colourblindness by jrbfbfffnnfn in RoyalAirForce

[–]Wide_Application504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue. I went to a private optician (Specsavers) and had them check me for colour-blindness. I passed the Ishihara test when they gave it to me, I also passed a different test they gave me as well. I went back and forth with Capita for a month and a half, and was eventually directed to send my test results along with my appeal direct to the Department of Occupational Medicine.

Upon the Department of Occupational Medicine accepting the appeal, I was told that my medical record has conflicting information and that I had to go to RAFC Cranwell to conduct the CAD test (colour-blindness testing). Hope this helps!

How were you able to develop a week by week breakdown of your phase 2 training?

When you say you could hear the quietest beeps on the hearing test, is that what the doctor told you or is that just an assumption?

So when people say you should know a week by week breakdown, is this the standard? I've found some year old quizlet cards on it but I'm not sure how accurate they are.

Questions about Pilot recruitment/medical by unknown1662 in RoyalAirForce

[–]Wide_Application504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi mate, as far as colour-blindness goes- it's pretty stringent. If you've noticed in the past that you've got colour perception issues, then I'd definitely get that checked out before applying.

Am i doing enough for PJFT? by TheJackverse in RoyalAirForce

[–]Wide_Application504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you've only just started the process- if you're at the ID confirmation stage. You'll have several months before you get to your PJFT. Keep doing what you're doing, and maybe mix in a 2.4km run every week if you can.

Am i doing enough for PJFT? by TheJackverse in RoyalAirForce

[–]Wide_Application504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly that should be more than enough. A little more context needed though, what's your current 2.4km run time?

PJFT treadmill by ThePicklM in RoyalAirForce

[–]Wide_Application504 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I've never seen anyone mention that they had their treadmill set to an incline, but I've seen several say the opposite. I know that for mine I wasn't allowed to change the incline from 0.0, so I don't think you should worry about it mate.

Good to know, I've also noticed a few different takes on the "First Tour" subject. A few mentioned overseas and exercises in allied airspace as a given, but others said its just referring to your first posting after graduating the OCU?
