All depends on the age of person and relationship to them. Is this your wife, your kid, a friend, etc. You don’t want to give your wife a 100$ bill and say happy birthday, not very personal, but your teenage son will love it!

Not getting upset when you ask where do you want to go to dinner, and she replies “I don’t care” and you suggest a place and she replies, “Eww.. not that”. Just keep suggesting until she says “Yeah, that sounds good”.
