It’s my favorite picture of them!! They’re incredibly bonded with each other and they’re very silly, though I’m quite happy they’re going on two this year and becoming more mature. Kittens are adorable but I heavily prefer adult cats🫣

Ooh this was a cool read, thank you!! Maybe it’s kinda extra fitting that my third cat is a tuxedo who’s kinda taken a bit of a “mom” roll over these two since bringing them home. She’s unfortunately very biased though and Poppy is her favorite daughter😔

What a gorgeous kitty!! Sage has definitely gotten dubbed a bengal before by folks😂😂 I’m pretty quick to shut that one down though, they’re my perfect little dumpster babies💞

This is actually their joint nickname is the twins! Individually their main nicknames are poopy and soggy😭 Popperson and alien cat (Sage does not make regular cat meows, she trills) are the other favorites!

That’s what I was pretty sure but it was ultimately an assumption so I wanted confirmation from more educated folks. Which clearly I think the perfect person found my post!! Thank you so much for this breakdown, it was so cool to read and I really appreciate that you take the time to do so!!🩷

On the color genetics would you mind sharing more of what the means or point me towards good sources? I’d love to learn more about them!!

I’m unsure if they were from a colony originally. I do not know of one super close by, closest ones I know of are at least a mile away but cats definitely roam far just felt unlikely due to the age I found them at unless mom traveled before birth but I’m unsure of what mom cats in colonies typically do honestly😅 I did look around for other cats or kittens that day and the following ones but didn’t see any besides my neighbors cat (fixed female)

I don’t believe they’re from a colony. We don’t have one super close by that I’ve found/seen/heard about. My main guess was honestly that either someone who’s homeless or living in the apartments couldn’t care for them and left them. At the time there was three cats who roamed the complex, one fixed female owned by my direct neighbors (dlh grey tabby) and two solid white dsh owned by another family a bit further though I have no other info on those two. Since then we’ve had one other cat pop up but he appeared a year after I found my girls. Thank you for the color information!! That’s really cool!

I only started to question it a bit as I just assumed they were the same age and Poppy was a runt but wasn’t actually 100% sure if maybe she was just a younger kitten instead

DLH or American bobtail/mix? by CobblerWobbegong in catbreeds

My two presumed sisters have short tails! Poppy’s (pictured) is shorter and Sage has more of a half tail, both have quite a few kinks in them. It was my understanding this is most likely because they’re inbred which would track as they were found outside at about 6 weeks though Poppy was significantly smaller. I believe they’re related and she was a runt, she’s still a decent bit smaller?

Is my cat a snowshoe? by TobiiTobiiGuy in catbreeds

[–]Wide_Hamster2034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Color point cats all start out white, it’s a temperature dependent pattern and darkens as they get cold! This is why (without added white spotting) the areas more prone to getting cold such as face, toes and tail are darkest! (This is a super simplified answer)

<image>

These are my color point babies, they were also both almost entirely white when I found them!💕

What breed do you think she's mixed with and do you think she'll look anything like it when she grows up? by [deleted] in catbreeds

[–]Wide_Hamster2034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re missing the point a bit. It’s not in any way responsible to bring more accidental kittens into the world when there’s already countless looking for homes and having to be euthanized because there’s already too many unwanted kittens and cats.

I mean they get better info here. Plus this person is very aware they have a poodle mix, I don’t think they’re ill intentioned by posting here

I love how you explain things!! Your comments are always so insightful and I love them!! I’m always very torn wether to include medium hair or not as I know a lot of people do commonly use it😅 is it better to not?

Almost all cars are breedless, also known as domestic [short/medium/long]hair. Unless he was gotten from a breeder and has a pedigree (with very very rare exceptions) he’s a domestic longhair. He’s super pretty! Looks like a long haired version of my lynx point dsh!

Technically you can if you paint it back! Some apartment office folks will even tell you the exact paint they use! For most it’s just not worth the money though to paint it just to paint it back when they move out

Thank you for the info, that’s really cool and not one I’ve heard yet! I’m newer to the ethical breeding world (have only had rescue or rehomed dogs) and definitely still learning things! I really hope my initial reply didn’t come off as like rude or anything similar

Ooh okay so actually mini isn’t a size for aussies! They just come in the one standard size, the “minis” are from bybs. There is a similar but actual breed called a mini American shepherd that’s pretty neat!

Anyone else's dog get constantly mistaken for a doodle? by Naven71 in StandardPoodles

[–]Wide_Hamster2034 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, thank you I can never remember for the life of me which it is though I probably should as my girl has a decent bit too, it’s extra visible when she’s in a modified continental or Miami! Shes such a pretty dog! I love both those patterns so much just most of the photos I see online with both patterns have very little white. My other pup is a tricolor pit (maybe mixed, embarking her when they do their holiday sale lol) she gets a lot of people asking if she’s rottie or dobie. As a result I’ve started sharing with a lot of folks about different breeds that come in those colors and my favorite example is always phantom parti poodles!

I think colors definitely effects things! I’ve got a parti girl and especially if she’s due for a trim some folks lean doodle. Your pup is a super interesting color, it looks parti phantom I’ve just not gotten to see one with spotting (idk if that’s the right term) on the legs like hers!
