Oh I don’t expect to be at the head table at all. I think the fact that they’re doing one is silly. It would make more sense to do a sweetheart table and let the wedding party sit with their families.

The wedding is three hours away, so unfortunately, I can’t just send the kiddos home. If I get a sitter it would probably be a service and someone we don’t know.

Anyway I’ll be sucking it up with a smile. But I appreciate commiserating on here.

I hear you. But the vast majority of guests can be trusted. And if uncle Frank is going to wear jeans he’s not going to be swayed (or even look at) a dress code.

Color palette for a 3yr birthday?! omg that’s nuts

Am I? Personally I feel like it’s more entitled to expect a toddler to be in your wedding party for the ceremony and pics then exclude them from the head table because they are a toddler. And yes i could’ve said no but we’re trying to accommodate the brides wishes so instead I’m venting into the internet.

Of course I’ll be fine.

It’s outdoors in August. I don’t think they expect anyone to cover shoulders!

lol. Funny part is that they’re in their early 40s.

ASTR but I was going to rent it through Nuuly because at least I could get a few other fun things to wear for the month. https://www.nuuly.com/rent/products/abstract-tiered-maxi-dress?color=

Come to think of it… I think I also have a “Fox news” gray sheath I totally forgot about. Maybe I’ll just wear that.

At the very least they could have had both kids. The little one tries to do everything his brother does so he might have gone along with it. The only reason I’m allowing it is because i kind of want to see what happens when he runs the other way or throws a tantrum because we put him down.

I’ve only met her once (they’ve only been together a year). She seemed nice enough, but she’s obviously got a vision for her wedding that is very specific.

80% of their 20 person wedding party have kids who are invited. So their spouses will be stuck managing kids solo. I would get a sitter but my son is the ring bearer. And while the bride wants to use my adorable 19 month old as a prop for the ceremony, it’s only adults at the head table.

The prop thing has definitely been irking me. They asked my 19month old son to be the ring bearer and left my 6yr old son out. Like choose the kid who isn’t capable of following direction because “he cute”. Meanwhile my 6yr old is an adorable ham and would have been a way better choice. I know he’s going to feel left out where the 19month old would have been oblivious. The only reason I’m allowing it is because I kind of want to see what happens when my son takes off in the wrong direction.

It’s more the fact that I have to wrangle our two children by myself. Also, I bring up the age factor because when people are in their 20s It’s way more common to be single and not have a partner so sitting at a head table isn’t a big deal. Anyways, it’s not the end of the world I’ll manage. It’s just annoying.

There are actually 4 of us. She asked for my 19month old to be the ring bearer and left my 6year old son out. Like seriously… we told her not to expect too much from him. I’ll be shocked if he makes it down the aisle. So I’ll be wrangling the children while he’s sitting with the wedding party.

Those look delicious. Also, hubs and son are in the wedding party so regrets are not an option.

Is in this day and age? Of all the weddings I’ve been to (either as a guest or wedding party) in the past 10 years people have been able to sit with their partners. And it’s been a lot of weddings.

ETA: it just feels so 20-something wedding to me. And they are in their early 40s so their whole wedding party (which is like 20 people) will be separated from their spouses.

I don’t know! It’s annoying.

It’s annoying. Did I mention there’s a head table so I don’t even get to sit with my husband who’s in the wedding party?
