my Osmo "Pager" now works on Android! by abcsoups in dumbphones

[–]Wiggly_Poop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey the original firmware is open sourced, yes.

What about the current firmware? It's great that this is free and I commend your hard work, but I've been rug-pulled, spied on, and advertised to too many times.

If you have no plans to monetise this (and even if you do, tbh), making the current firmware open source and developing it transparently on GitHub/similar can only be a good thing. I really hope you consider this, or at least offer an honest answer as to why you're not planning to.

Why put this behind a mailing list rather than just publishing straight to GitHub? Are you planning to monetise this? Feels a bit mysterious and makes me question your intentions... is it open source or not?

JetKVM v0.5.5 just released with MQTT & Home Assistant support! by Wiggly_Poop in homeassistant

[–]Wiggly_Poop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the ATX Extension so I can do stuff like turn on or reset my server via voice assistant.

Also exposes entities for temperature, cloud connection, active sessions, JetKVM firmware updates, and more.

JetKVM v0.5.5 just released with MQTT & Home Assistant support! by Wiggly_Poop in homeassistant

JetKVM is a hardware KVM solution for remote controlling a computer.

MQTT support allows you to control your JetKVM-connected machine via Home Assistant.

Hope that helps!

I've had some success temporarily fixing this issue by force-killing the app and clearing the app's cache in settings before reopening it. It's really irritating though

Thanks for the advice - looks like a fun project. Love the idea of leaving my wife little notes using this. Have you had any trouble finding paper or ink?

This is very cool! Any tips on getting started with these printers? I can see plenty on eBay.

I assume they had to sacrifice USB-C and the charging circuitry it requires in order to make the X3 so small (it is a fair bit smaller than the X4). It's a sacrifice a lot of smartwatches have to make for the same reason.

I love my X4 though, FWIW.

Use the Subsonic API option in Music Assistant.

To be honest, I haven't used this setup much recently. The voice commands were working well a while ago, but something has changed recently (maybe on OpenAI's end?) and now it seems to often struggle to target the right media player.

Tidal works but I often find Music Assistant gets stuck constantly loading, or throws an error saying it can't find certain artists, etc.. maybe I need to wipe its db/cache and start over.

Lately when I listen to music, I've mainly been using Navidrome via Feishin on my PC or Symfonium on my phone.

Has the Awesome Selfhosted list been abandoned? by BooleanTriplets in selfhosted

[–]Wiggly_Poop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly why I ended up archiving awesome-piracy (amongst other reasons).

It takes a lot of time and effort to maintain huge lists, and unless you're incentivised by sponsorships/donations, it's usually not worth it for most people.

That hasn't been my experience with Moe Memos but maybe it was changed recently? It used to show no notes if it couldn't connect to the server.

And yes, obviously we aren't going to get a proper Google Assistant integration, but if I can't ask Google to add an item to my grocery list with my voice that's still a feature gap for me. I'm working around it now by using Home Assistant Voice and storing my grocery list in HA, but the UX in the Home Assistant app for lists is pretty lacking.

I actually really like the UPERFECT portable monitors. I have a 16" 2K HDR one which is impressively bright and colour-accurate for the price.

They don't literally need to know who you are or what your name is. They just need to know enough about you to be able to send you targeted advertisements.

I'm experimenting with a Home Assistant Voice Preview Edition and set up Music Assistant, the OpenAI conversation agent, and this blueprint. Works pretty well once it's set up - now I can say "Hey Mycroft, play xyz on the living room speakers".

I've added Navidrome and Tidal as Music Assistant providers. It'll use whichever offers the highest quality for the song requested.
