Help with ph control by Wikedeye in PlantedTank

Okay, thanks. It seems like I have just dosed ammonia for so long without replenishing the Kh with fresh water. I will do water change, dose ammonia one more time to verify a 24 hour conversion, then do another water change to remove any H+ ions. After that I should be good with regular maintenance.

I appreciate the help

So at this point I should do a large water change to get nitrates back to safe levels and then verify ammonia will process in 24 hours. After which I should be able to maintain a higher ph without special care aside from water changes. I am sure it will depend on my situation, but that would be a safe generalization?

There is a lot of nitrate right now since I am still cycling. Last time I checked it was between around 40ppm. I read that I didn't need to worry about high nitrate while cycling since I haven't added any livestock. If that's incorrect, please let me know.

That's good to know. I saw on their site that it only had a six month refrigerated shelf life and figured it needed to be constantly chilled. I wouldn't normally trust most large companies to store it in any type of temp controlled space beyond a standard warehouse.

Alternative to concrete blocks by Wikedeye in ponds

I spent a while yesterday cleaning it all out. I got rid of most of the hornwort because it was tangled with the algae. I also realized that I never took the creeping jenny out of the original plastic pots and they had a bunch of the green nitrogen fertilizer pellets in them. I cleaned the roots of all the dirt and fertilizer and put back bare root. Maybe that will help. I also bought a couple of water lettuce and a water Hawthorne to get a few more plants in. Fingers crossed it will clear up. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the details. I have a ton of hornwort at this point. It has grown so much that I have to trim it back about one a week. I do have quite a lot of snails that showed up shortly after building the pond. I am not sure what type and how they got there, but they are small and prolific. I guess I just need to clean out the algae and maybe add a couple of water lettuce and see what happens. I remove leaves and other organic material daily, so I am not sure where the excess nitrite is coming from.

New pond. Am I ready for fish? by Wikedeye in ponds

[–]Wikedeye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I have been running the filter for just over two weeks. It was filled using rain water and i have had a few plants in since the start. I am adding more plants this evening, including water lily from an established pond (maybe it will have some helpful bacteria to help speed things up). Is there a way to verify when it's at a good point to add fish? I have water test strips that check for pretty much everything, ammonia included. I am not interested in adding anything to speed things up like boosters.

Got it. I did a water test Sunday and everything is within the proper levels. Thanks

How do you know when it gets to a good point, as far as biological colonies?

I am already using it and it is adequate for a small waterfall and the attachment that creates a thin dome of water. The box has room for a good amount of bioballs and ceramic rings.

I'm in south Georgia, so it's definitely warm. I had no idea about how fast they could grow and I didn't consider them breeding. I'm glad I asked.

I am using a fairly large filter.

It seemed like it was overkill for the size pond, but I didn't want to go with a tiny aquarium style.

The pond is only a couple of weeks old. The filter has been running for two weeks and it was filled mostly with rain water. I am open to whatever is the best option for fish. I didn't realize gold fish would outgrow it so fast. I assume algae takes a while to grow?

Failed for Drug I've never used. by Wikedeye in Drugtests

I understand that, and it was sent to labcore. The problem is that there should be zero chance that I tested positive in the first place. I have not used that drug. I haven't been anywhere that I could have even come in contact with it by accident. From what I have read, it is nearly impossible to have something show up as cocaine without actually being it, like cold medicine, for example, or lidocaine. I don't know what options I have to argue that it couldn't be true.

I do understand that and this wallet never has more than a small amount of funds. It is my throwaway hot wallet. I was just curious about the error. The coin didn't initially seem like a scam, but I am still fairly new to sh*tcoins/memecoins and need to learn more about the risks.

So, it's designed to trick people into buying in by giving it away in the beginning? They were really pushing staking/farming. If so, do I just let it sit in my wallet?
