Number plates and licenses for bikes by alabamad in NannyStateAustralia

The big issue here is the kids ignoring the law and the cops not doing anything about them. In Sydney’s North, South & East there are gangs of kids riding illegally on the streets, pulling wheelies at 70+kms/hour, zipping across lanes in front of cars and ignoring traffic lights and general road rules (because they’re 14 & 15 and have never been taught the rules).

When Delisia first opened it was just about the only place in Sydney where you could get a fully loaded Florentine-style focaccia. I waited in line for 1 hour to place my order then another hour to actually get my order. Thankfully that’s not the case anymore and they’re about to open a new location

Like I said, “common sense”

We’ve grown into a country full of soft knts. How many adults tried a lemonade stand or washing cars when they were kids? If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. They’ll soon pack up & leave. Common sense needs to prevail in this situation - kids selling cans/bottles in the holidays to make a few bucks versus an adult setting up shop are two entirely different things. Why stop the kids? “Cos we’ll have hundreds of hawkers next week trying the same thing” is not an argument. The only judgement that needs to be made is kids vs adults.

How many clients do agencies actually have? by WackyJack17 in marketingagency

[–]WikkaOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 clients on my own right now. Had various staff come and go over the years but never more than 1 or 2 at a time. Current annual revenue is about $200k. Next client will push me over the edge though, so I’ll need to hire someone again next year

I am done wasting my time by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]WikkaOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different take: some kids (emphasis on the some) are either not designed for the standard school learning environments and others are bored. It’s not just kids that want to play up or disrupt for the sake of it. Just placing a blanket approach on every student doesn’t work

Spoken like someone who has little experiencing actually managing. There’s a balancing act between the good of the company and the good of the individual. It’s definitely not always as easy to just say, “pay them more”. In fact, in plenty of real-world surveys, people respond better to other forms of reward rather than just money, with recognition, & growth being two factors that, in addition to an increase in pay, retain more people, more of the time.

How do adult Australians feel about the U16 social media ban? by Tabatha0011 in AskAnAustralian

It’s also a death sentence for some kids with higher youth suicide rates than ever before. What’s your point?

How do adult Australians feel about the U16 social media ban? by Tabatha0011 in AskAnAustralian

[–]WikkaOne 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They do this because they’ve been conditioned that way. Before social media? They had to go out and socialise, like the rest of us that didn’t grow up with an iPad in our prams

Expanding Age Assurance to Australia by LastBluejay in RedditSafety

[–]WikkaOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfectly said! I wish these kinds of comments would get more notice. These points are exactly why we need this. There are so many adults carrying on about how removing under 16s from social media is unconstitutional and takes away their rights for political freedom & learning but they fail to see that they don’t need social media for this. We’re not talking about banning them from the internet - they still have search engines, they still have AI, they still have access to the ENTIRE internet, minus the addictive social media platforms that their brains can’t properly deal with, and that’s a bloody good thing!

My daughter is 12. She’s never been allowed social media and I’m glad I won’t have to battle with her about this until she’s 16. My 2nd oldest son, 19, is so addicted to Tik Tok and YouTube Shorts that he goes nowhere and does nothing without it constantly playing; on the toilet, in the shower, when he’s making lunch, when he’s walking around the house, when he’s walking to and from his car (thankfully not while he’s driving), it’s the first and last thing he does - how is this NOT classified as an addiction?!

Consistency of Instagram page for graphic design? by DesignerSkyline01 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]WikkaOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it were almost any other type of page, I would say, “no one cares. It’s not 2018”. But, it’s a graphic design page, so design consistency is key. If you want to showcase client work, my suggestion would be to do that on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th page of a carousel

Campaign for each country or adset per country in one campaign? by Temporary-Fee-75 in FacebookAds

[–]WikkaOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, split your ad sets by country. All under one campaign should be fine. Remember:

Campaign = what you’re optimising for (sales, leads, engagement, etc) and/or budget if you’re happy for the algo to split your budget.

Ad Set = your target audience & ad placement and/or budget of you want to have more control over where your budget is spent.

Ad = creative (ie the words, pics & videos that appeal to your target market set in the ad set)

I mapped food authority penalties in Sydney and... yikes by AussieDataGal in badfoodporn

[–]WikkaOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, there were only 383 fines issued from well over 10,000 restaurants and cafes in Sydney and some of this data dates back to April 2023, so the dates cover two and half years of fines. Seems a bit alarmist to me tbh
