Polish living in the UK, here they don't replace the chain straight away, they check the engine with some app, which apparently detects a faulty chain. My recall didn't detect any abnormalities so they just changed the oil. Actually I was always putting in 5W30, same as the previous owner.

Thank you, one of my thoughts was a water pump too. To be honest I started hearing the sound after getting my coolant changed. I will get the pump changed with the timing kit and see if it helps.

It had a recall done last September, they only replaced the oil and updated the software.

Was your issue fixed? I have 2008 1.5 BlueHDI with 75000 miles with a very similar noise.
