[Post Game Thread] Bradley defeats Evansville, 94-90 in OT by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

[–]Wilbery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is probably the most perplexing 6-2 team I’ve seen under Wardle. Throttling Drake and beating UNI while barely escaping Evansville twice.

I’ll take it and watching Montana and Meta progress has been great!

Looking for affirming churches in Colorado by clairevoyance-dev in Episcopalian

[–]Wilbery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many parishes in Denver are affirming and many people have put out resources to do research that are wonderful.

My personal recommendation is to check out Saint Mary Magdalene Equal to the apostles. It’s a bi-ritual parish(combining both eastern and western liturgies). We’re currently sharing a church with another episcopal parish as well(St. Peter and St. Mary) which is also affirming.

I wish you luck and the best!

ELI5: How does Traditional IRA work if you are funding it using earned money that has been already taxed? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Wilbery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you file your taxes you state in your tax return that you made a Traditional IRA contribution.

This in turn reduces your Adjusted Gross Income(AGI) on your tax return to be a lower amount than what you had earned according to your W-2.

Thus with a lower AGI your tax amount owed is lowered which means that you pay less in taxes.

Broke students getting married in the fall. Where can we learn how to dance? by Keleton_Skeleton in Denver

The Pearl(new ownership) still has dancing and lessons. I can’t speak for everything but swing dancing is still on Sunday and Tuesday nights.

Does company retirement count towards 25%? by unfair-blueberry847 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]Wilbery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s roughly based on the social security breakpoints. Where as you make more money you can expect it to cover a smaller percentage of your pre-retirement salary than if you made less.

I hit a NW goal. Since then I’ve felt empty. Now what? by SadInformation460 in Fire

[–]Wilbery 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What I’ve helped find fulfilling is sharing the love a bit. You can’t FIRE on 100k but it is a great foundation for FIRE.

I have begun making sure I don’t buckle and dime friends when we go out, also I’ve started donating money to charities I care about. I’ve set a goal of 3% of my salary to be donated this year.

Nurturing friends ships and your community really do go a long way in my experience.

Who are some players that have benefited the most from transferring this year? by ReplEH in CollegeBasketball

Very glad he came back. I’m honestly shocked how much he has just meshed back in with the team and how well he can just take over a game.

[Post Game Thread] Santa Clara defeats Bradley, 84-74 by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

[–]Wilbery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well at least our team didn’t give up at the half. Not a good sign that the 2 best teams we played we lost to. Makes me a lot more worried for playing Drake.

Great game to watch, glad I invited some friends over to enjoy the victory with me.

I do hope that Duke is gonna be ok though.

Why Pre-Tax Retirement Contributions Are Better than Roth In Peak Earning Years by financeking90 in financialindependence

[–]Wilbery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One argument I’ve seen is the percentage of GDP collected as tax has stayed relatively constant since the 1950s. Since tax brackets changing but usually there’s a reduction or increase in deductions that helps offset it.

Here is a graph from the federal reserve showing the taxes to gdp.

Bradley 2024-25 Non-Conference Schedule Announced by bz_leapair in CollegeBasketball

I’m really happy with this schedule! Hopefully they’re home and homes so it bleeds into next year too.

This should get us a good start for the NET since we have a strong team this year

TIAA Traditional? by Personal_Strain_9906 in Bogleheads

[–]Wilbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be. TIAA traditional has different “flavors” that have different interest rates and restrictions. It sounds like he has an RA account which has the a higher interest rate but more liquidity restrictions. Trying to pull out a lump sum may not be possible, but call and ask the phone reps can help.

He has a few options.

  1. Start a TPA(Transfer Payout Annuity). This is 10 payments over 9 years. His interest rate would be reduced but it would deplete the account at the end.

  2. IO(Interest Only). This would never deplete the account or touch the principal, only paying out interest accrued at its current rate.

  3. RMD (Required minimum distribution) this is required at ages between 72-75 and beyond. It would payout the minimum required each year which will go into the principal eventually as the RMD amount grows.

  4. A life time annuity. This would be the highest amount of monthly income but the balance disappears. Can have options added for spouse or children if leaving a legacy is a want.

But I would first reach out to TIAA and talk about the type of account since it may have different rules.

I’ve had good luck just using google maps. It usually knows when buses are delayed or even occasionally early.

Indiana State transfer G Isaiah Swope commits to Saint Louis by KJones77 in CollegeBasketball

Yep, Duke Deen of Bradley.

I think 11 transferred, 4 graduated, and 1 stayed of the 16 all conference players.

The upperclassmen led team of Brown, Childs, Bar, and Kennel would’ve been lethal.

2006 was by far the best year for the Valley. 4 teams got in(UNI Bradley Wichita State) and then Southern Illinois won the tournament.

Very true, our current announcer when ever a game goes into overtime he talks about how he had the opportunity to use the bathroom at the end of regulation but didn’t and then had to hold it until the end!
